    Ships

When a tanker is alongside a berth, fire-fighting

equipment is to be ready for immediateimmediateimmediate

    use

Onboard the ship, this is achieved by fire hoses with

spray / jet nozzles connected and run out forward

and aft of the manifold in use. Having portable dry

chemical powder extinguishers available near the

manifold provides protection against small flash fires

    Terminals

On the jetty, fire-fighting equipment should be

    ready for immediateimmediateimmediate

    use. The preparations for

emergency operation of the fire-fighting equipmentshould be communicated to the tanker at the pre- cargo conferenceConsideration should be given to having portable

extinguishers available for use adjacent to the jettymanifold area

    International Shore Fire Connection

All marine terminals with a firewater system should

provide at least one international shore fireconnection, complete with nuts and bolts, through

which water could be supplied to a tanker's fire main

    if required for shipboard fire-fighting
