More than 120 people a day are physically and spiritually fed in the Community Kitchen and 50 plus meals are delivered to shut- ins in the area. FEBRUARY MISSION OF THE MONTH Souper Bowl” of Caring Food Drive to Benefit Stewpot Thanks to your compas- sionate generosity, all five containers placed around the church have received food items. Monetary contribu- tions have also been received to support this vital mission. The following excerpt from their website describes part of the Stewpot meal program and helps us un- derstand how critical our support is to their ministry. The very heart of Stewpot is the noon meal search by staff and volunteers 365 days a year. This meal serves as the center of each day as well as the heart of the Stewpot philosophy. Rich and poor, black and white, all of God’s children come together over a nourishing meal. More than 120 people a day are phys- ically and spiritually fed in the Community Kitchen and 50 plus meals are delivered to shut-ins in the area. You may bring your non-perishable food donations with you when you come to Sunday services, or drop them off at the church anytime this month. Monetary contributions may be made to St. Luke’s, noted “Stewpot.” YOUR THRIFT SHOP NEEDS DONATIONS! As you do your “spring clean- ing” or work to de-clutter your closets, cabinets, pantry, or storeroom, please remember your Thrift Shop is always looking for item donations. We sell EVERY kind of household item imaginable and ALL siz- es/styles of clothing. We had an extremely successful 2015 because so many of you remembered us as you cleaned or downsized. Due to your donations, we were able to make sizeable gifts to local charities (nearly $9,000), but now we are beginning to have some bare shelves in our “workroom” and are in need of more donated items. Please share this need and help spread the word by telling neighbors and friends that the Thrift Shop is both a place to find good bar- gains and a donation center for gently used items (donation receipts for tax purposes are available through the church office). Thank you for helping to make the St. Luke’s Thrift Shop such a blessing to many people in Jackson. QUARTERLY CONFERENCE - FREE BREAKFAST

9:00 A.M., Sunday, February 21, in the Fellowship Hall

St. Luke’s United Methodist Men’s group will prepare breakfast to be served during our Quarterly Conference. They will need volunteers to be on hand at 8:00 a.m., to help prepare, cook, and set up, in order to begin serving breakfast promptly at 9:00. If you can help, please contact Cliff Duncan, Jimmy Emfinger or the church. The menu will include pancakes, eggs, biscuits, and more. Remember, the Quarterly Conference is open to all who are interested in the work, missions, and ministries of our church. It is a time for our church family to learn more about the ministries and business of St. Luke’s. It’s also an opportunity to engage and consult with the vari-ous committees and organizations of the church. The Quarterly Conference is held during the Sunday School hour so that it will not interfere with your person-al schedules. We hope to see you here on the 21st for breakfast, fellowship, and to share in the mission, minis-tries, and events of our church.

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY It's that time again to begin recruiting for VBS volunteers! VBS will be June 6-10th from 9 am - 12 pm here at St. Luke's! We are currently looking for people to tell Bible stories, lead music, play games, help with

crafts and conduct science experiments. If you are willing to assist with this great ministry to our children, please email Leah at [email protected].

ST. LUKE’S PRAYER SHAWL MINSTRY

POCKET PRAYER CLOTHS A HIT!

The Pocket Prayer Cloth Baskets were emptied. Your St. Luke’s Prayer Shawl mem-bers are overjoyed and overwhelmed by your enthusiastic response to the Pocket Prayer Cloths we knitted to serve as a re-minder that when you are in need of extra support and comfort, you are never alone; God is always with you. We want to let you know that this is now an ongoing project of our ministry.

The baskets in the church are being refilled with a new supply of Pocket Prayer Cloths! Our Prayer Shawl Minis-try members will continue to make them available for you with our blessings. If you want to give one to someone in need, we ask that you share with the recipient that it is a gift from the St. Luke’s Prayer Shawl Ministry, meant to bring them comfort and peace by symbolizing God’s love. Thanks a million for your astounding acceptance of our new Pocket Prayer Cloth ministry, and for your con-tinued support.

Happy Valentine’s Day from St. Luke’s
