Richardson ISD is participating in the BrightBytes survey for the 5th consecutive year. This is the ONLY technology specific survey administered and provides comprehensive data on
technology integration and evaluation for the District Improvement Plan.
BrightBytes focuses on four areas - Classroom, Access, Skills
and Environment (CASE) - while also evaluating district data with a SAMR lens. The survey is anonymous and typically takes
between 20-30 minutes to complete. RISD is looking for 100% participation from all campus professional staff and students!

JANUARY/FEBRUARY FOCUS
HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS
#liveWiseliveHealthy Community wide training, programming and opportunities to empower young people through healthy and wise decision making and meaningful life changing experiences.
Relationship care is an essential part of all of our daily lives. RISD values the importance of healthy relationships and the positive outcomes it produces for all. The months of January and February will concentrate on
understanding the value of healthy relationships and the areas of prevention, intervention and postvention.
Staff: At the beginning of January campuses will be provided a resource packet that focuses on warning signs in dating, meaningful friendships and boundary setting.
Community and Students: Community and students are invited to a “Social Media Warning Signs” presentation at the RISD PDC Auditorium on January 16 from 5:30 - 7 p.m. • High School Mediators will present a PSA on healthy relationships to their campus and Junior Highs. • Elementary counselors will provide healthy relationship guidance lessons during January and February. • Health and PE classes will receive throughout the spring an evidence-based Safe Dates curriculum provided by Hope’s Door.
Students of all ages should know what healthy relationships look like. Friendships, dating, and social media interactions can be tricky to understand and navigate.
Community, Students, and Staff: At the end of January, all campuses will receive an additional resource packet that will include information on staying safe, proactive decision making, and important exit strategies.
Students need to know effective strategies for getting out of unhealthy relationships. Healthy relationships require wise decision-making, good communication and safety.
Students (High School only), Staff, and Community: The panel discussion includes representatives from the RPD and local support resources. Discussion will revolve around police investigations, school district responsibilities and resources in place to support families and individuals. Be looking for a flyer with a specific time and date, and join us in late February at the new Richardson Police Department building located on Greenville Avenue.
RISD and the Richardson Police Department host a panel discussion on legal, physical and emotional next steps after a relationship has become unhealthy or dangerous.
