Staab Construction Corporation Now 100% Employee OwnedStaab Construction Corporation has announced it has recently completed the transition to being 100% em-ployee owned through its Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP).

Ben Lee, Chief Operating Officers tells us that they started the ESOP in 1989 with the goal of eventually being 100% owned. Due to their continued success, they are fortunate to have achieved 100% employee ownership sooner than they originally anticipated.

The benefits of being employee owned through an ESOP means employees enjoy significant advantages over employees of other companies. Research has shown companies that are employee owned pay higher wages to employees, provide better benefits, and generate significantly greater retirement income for em-ployees than non-ESOP companies.

Staab Construction Corporation was founded in 1984 by Aaron Staab, and is a premier builder of municipal and industrial water and waster water treatment facilities with more than 100 employees. To learn more about Staab Construction Corporation visit www.staabco.com.

The Inspire Central Wisconsin initiative brings together education and industry to help students and job seekers achieve their goals and address communities’ workforce development needs. Inspire Central Wisconsin provides powerful tools for students and job seekers and adult career searchers, community businesses, educators, and local system administrators.

In an initiative aimed at addressing Wisconsin’s workforce development needs, all nine of the state’s regional economic development organizations have teamed up to develop a statewide platform that directly connects local employers to students. In the Centergy region, that includes the Marshfield area in Wood County, MACCI is leading the effort.

Centergy and MACCI, with support from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) and the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DP), will expand the use of a web-based platform called Inspire that virtually connects area businesses to their future talent pool through online profiles, virtual career coaches, and career based learning activities for high school students and educators.

What should I know about Inspire? Inspire is a cloud-based platform that enables collaboration among all community partners in preparing youth to

transition from school success. Inspire integrates seamlessly into Career Cruising for grades 6 to 12.

Inspire connects education and industry with employer profiles, career coaches, work-based learning experiences, communication tools, local events, and social networking connections in a safe and secure platform.

Students engage with employer profiles to see how their pathways connect with businesses and organizations in their community. Students can ask questions of real working people in their community, learn about apprenticeship opportunities, and see upcoming employer-hosted events.

Employers can connect with students and share information about the work they do and skills they need. They can also target students with profiles that match their needs, all on a secure platform that protects students.

Community members can serve as pre-screened mentors to offer real-time career advice and answer students’ questions about the real world of work.

Where do I access Inspire? Participating in Inspire is easy! To access and register your business on this cloud-based platform, visit Centergy’s website to enter Inspire’s employer portal at http://www.centergy.net/workforce/inspire_employers.htm. Upon selecting a username and password, you’ll begin to establish your company profile. The company profile can describe your business, highlight unique attributes, and communicate areas of need to future employees. Upon completion of the company profile section, career coach profile, submittal and approval of a background check, you are now ready to receive and answer communications on your company message board. The message board is monitored by administrators to ensure a safe environment.

I’m Inspired but need some assistance! Have no fear, help is always available. MACCI’s workforce development director Karen Isaacson has attended training sessions, set up a company profile and is now a career coach. She will also be the Inspire Administrator for the Marshfield area businesses. Contact her at (715) 384-3454 or email [email protected] for more information.

Inspire is set to go live in the school districts on October 1, 2017. Therefore, don’t wait to get your company registered or you may be missing out on connecting with your future workforce!

Marshfield First Responders to Receive "Reach Bags"Marshfield Police Chief Rick Gramza received 20 "REACH BAGS" this past December, courtesy of REACH-A-Child™, a nonprofit organizatoin based in Madison.

Additionally, four REACH BAGS were presented to firefighter Steve Bakos at Culver's restaurant for use by the Marshfield Fire Department. Culver's of Marshfield has provided a generous grant to fund these REACH BAGS.

REACH BAGS are heavy duty backpacks which contain children's books and drawstring backpacks. First Re-sponders use these resources when encountering children in crisis. Often, the First Responder lets the child choose a book, which they read together. This helps to comfort the child, and distract him/her from the immediate trauma. The child keeps both the book and drawstring backpack.

REACH-A-Child also delivered hundreds of new children's books to the Police and Fire Department for use in positive, proactive engagements with children.

Started in 2007, REACH-A-Child continues its mission of providing a REACH BAG to every First Responder in Wisconsin. Currently, the entire fleet of Wisconsin State Patrol vehicles and many Sheriff/Police/Fire/EMS De-partments across the state carry REACH BAGS. More information about REACH-A-Child is available at www.reachachild.org.

A new way to be involved - Adopt-A-RoomThe Hannah Center is offering a new and fun way to get involved with a new program coming this spring. The home is over a decade old, and The Hannah Center needs your help. They are seeking small groups of individu-als or organizations to Adopt-A-Room at The Hannah Center. Gather your friends, family, co-workers or church group and leave your mark at The Hannah Center.

Adopt-A-Room groups will pick a room to transform and then get to work. All costs and labor of transformation will be covered by the Adopt-A-Room groups. Each room has a different need in order to assist in transform-ing the lives of women and children in crisis. To launch their Urgent Housing Program, they need two groups to Adopt-A-Room and begin transformation now. They have many other rooms to offer as well, so you are invited to tour the home and see which room will fit your group the best. Put your creativity to work by painting, decorating and repairing.

The Hannah Center has existed for 25 years in Marshfield; funded by generous donations from the community members, businesses, organizations and churches a new way to give back and make a lasting change in the community by supporting women and children in crisis. For more informa-tion or to tour the rooms available for adoption, please con-tact Tricia Fancher, Program Coordinator at 715-387-6300. To donate to The Hannah Center visit www.hannahcenter.com.

The Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce & Industry was pleased to be a part of the ribbon cutting ceremony for Marshfield Insurance Agency, located at 208 West 5th Street.

The roots of Marshfield Insurance Agency date back to 1984 when Roger Arnoldy became part owner of a firm that staffed only two other employees and focused primarily on life and health products. Currently, Marshfield Insurance represents over 30 “A-Rated” in-surance companies and staffs 18 employees including over a dozen licensed agents. Perpetuation of the agency has since transferred to Roger’s two sons, Nick and Ryan Arnoldy. Marshfield Insur-ance is a leading insurance office in the Marshfield area offering assistance in commercial, home, auto, life, health and specialized business insurance programs. Their services reach many different states throughout the U.S. with the main policy base being Central Wisconsin.

The Bubbler Awards shine a light on the companies who have made great strides to accommodate the interests of a shifting workforce. A lot of attention is paid to the picture of Millennials as discontent or disin-terested in traditional forms of employment. We are eager to showcase the reality of how many Wisconsin-based companies are allowing young professionals to call this state home.

The Bubbler Awards is a statewide project led by the organizers of YPWeek Wisconsin, including the Marshfield Young Professionals. The goal is to highlight the young professional voice. Additionally, the nomination and selection process establish a framework for existing and emerging young profession-als throughout the state to collaborate and brand Wisconsin as a workplace destination for Millennials.

The nomination evaluation centers on what Millennials are looking for in today’s workplace including: competitive salary and benefits, opportunity for advancement, and employee and community engage-ment.

Bubbler Awards applications are due by February 28th, winners will be announced on March 14th.

To provide you access to your accounts this weekend, our North Central Office drive-up will be open Saturday, February 17 until Noon. Don’t forget that you can access your accounts 24-7 using Mobile, Online or Voice Banking. Deposits can be made at the existing North Central Office ATM until March 3.

Help “Leadership Marshfield” Group Give Kids Their “Best First Day” A current Leadership Marshfield group has teamed up with Soup or Socks to support local needy families in dressing their children as they begin a new school year. The group’s 2017/2018 project is entitled “Best First Day”. The first day of school is of particular importance for all children. It’s the day they embark on meeting new friends, embrace exciting learning opportunities, and grow as individuals. Beginning this day with new shoes and proper clothing are basics that give children confidence, ultimately aiding in their education and future. Unfortunately, some families struggle to provide this due to financial hardships. As a United Way Partner, Soup or Socks (SOS), a local food pantry and clothes closet, outfits children for the upcoming school year. Similar to United Way Supplies for Success, and in the same time frame, families go to SOS with their children on a day in August to pick out clothing. Clothes, shoes, and winter gear are provided to children of families who qualify for the assistance, but resources are limited. In support of the growing area need, the Best First Day team is hosting a drive to collect new clothing and raise funds during the month of March. “Drop Boxes” for new clothing will be placed throughout the community. Clothing collections will be for the following most needed items for boys and girls grades K–12:

- New Tennis /Athletic Shoes - New Leggings or Athletic Pants - New Hoodies - New Socks - Donated Funds (funds will be used to supplement needs; e.g., jeans, tees, boots, etc.)

Five drop box locations have been confirmed, including Hotel Marshfield, Hub City Times, Pioneer Bank in Marshfield and Rozellville and MACCI. The group hopes to add additional drop box locations soon.

The group’s vision is to enrich the lives of our future by having every kid dressed with confidence. Please consider donating to Best First Day during the month of March. New clothing in the Drop Boxes are welcomed, as are donated dollars for SOS to purchase supplemental clothing items for children returning to school, culminating with the Best First Day clothing event August 8, 2018 at Soup or Socks. Best First Day team members include Chase Gomez-PreventionGenetics, Kathy Leick-Marshfield Utilities, Jen Morrow-Pioneer Bank, Mike Warren-WDLB, and Tammie Willfahrt-Figi’s Companies, Inc.

How much life insurance do I need? February 1, 2018

Answer: To answer this question, you must first answer several related questions. How big a financial burden would your death leave for others to deal with? How much of your salary is devoted to current expenses and future needs? How long would your dependents need support if you were to die tomorrow? How much would it cost to pay all of your final expenses? When determining your life insurance need, you'll need to consider your life stage and circumstances. Marital status, number of dependents, size and nature of financial obligations, career stage, and your intentions to pass on your property are all important factors you'll want to think about. Your need for life insurance changes as the circumstances of your life change.

For example, you may be able to reduce the amount of life insurance coverage that you have once your children have grown and are on their own. There are several methods you can use to calculate the appropriate level of insurance for you and your situation. Although they all share common features, some methods strive to be more simplistic, such as the income replacement method and rules of thumb. Others, such as the family needs approach and the capital needs method, involve more sophisticated calculations. You may want to investigate these methods and do some preliminary calculations to provide a basis for possible discussions with your financial planner.

Keep in mind that the worst mistake you can make concerning life insurance is to have a need and not have the insurance to cover that need. Having too little (or even too much) insurance can also be a problem. Proper insurance planning can provide peace of mind for you, as well as protection for those you care about.
