* The Amethyst has always been associated with February, the month the Romans dedicated to Neptune, their water-god, and is the traditional birthstone of that month. It

carries the energy of fire and passion, creativity and spirituality, and bears the logic of temperance and balanced thought.

It’s February! Keep your balance with family, school, and play, enjoy!

February is known for Valentines Day, the day we recognize those we love in our lives.

How about, this Valentine’s Day the Focus is on Friends. Here is an idea to recognize those you love and at the same time - give back to the community in which you live...

“Have a party with friends to not only honor friendship but to give back to the com-munity.” Everyone brings something wonderful to eat along with an idea of how your group can impact the community in a positive way. Have the conversation with friends and chose one of those ideas that will make you all happy and help out community. What could be better, spending a few hours with friends and giving back, together! Great for personal energy, share your tal-ents! Support a local group or person, enjoy the ride, it’s February! Now Act on Your Ideas!

Like the Evolution of Mankind, each of us has our “personal evolution!” It is important to be thoughtful of

that evolutionary process we understand how far we’ve come, where we stand on our personal path to suc-

cess, and recognize how far we have to go to create that life we desire.

In this overview of your life you’ll be able to see what you’ve learned and see how those learned practices

are tools in your toolbox of life!

Begin your time-line and see your evolution: Note-there is no wrong way to do this or wrong place to begin.

1. Begin where you want, birth, elementary school, high school, the beginning of college… any starting point is fine.

2. Mark poignant memory markers in your life-evolution (evo)

3. Think about where you were.

4. Who was with you while you were there?

You do not have to print this page out. Just grab a piece of paper and draw a line to begin. Remember there are no rules, this is about your life and the changes that

you’ve made along the way. The idea for this exercise to see what you’ve already accomplished and to begin to recognize just how strong you are. That strength and the

experiences you’ve had are the tools that travel with you every day. Use them to build a good foundation for school and work. What you are doing is …

Creating a life of your design!

Earth Day is an annual event, celebrated on April 22. Events worldwide are

held to demonstrate support for environmental protection .

“Many people think climate change is a remote problem, but the fact is that it’s already impact-

ing real people, animals, and beloved places all over the world, and these Faces of Climate

Change are multiplying every day,“ said Kathleen Rogers, president of Earth Day Network.

“Fortunately, other Faces of Climate Change are also multiplying every day: those stepping up

to do something about it.”

The first Earth Day on April 22, 1970, activated 20 million Americans from all walks

of life and is widely credited with launching the modern environmental movement.

The passage of the landmark Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Endangered Species

Act and many other groundbreaking environmental laws soon followed.

Each year, more than one billion people participate in Earth Day-related activ-

ities, making it the largest civic observance in the world. On and around April

22, communities across approximately 192 countries voice their concerns for

the planet and take action to protect it.

Hope your garden is in full bloom and you are en-

joying time with family and friends, relaxing and reflect-

ing, dreaming and planning!

June is a good time for all of those things. We need to

re-energize for the Fall term. Let us see how this breaks

down:

Relax & Reflect

I say, sweatpants and journaling

kids playing, baking for family, gardening for peace,

swimming, vacationing

&

writing about what you’ve accomplished, gained, and

achieved.

Dreaming & Planning

Again, I say, sweatpants and journaling

what worked for you this year will aid you in the future

so build a plan that will move you toward completion of

the dream you had since you began school. How far can

you go this Fall, will you have all the building blocks in

your plan completed? Check with an Advisor for more

information so you know what you’ll need for completion.

The Plan Continues!

World Population Day: World Population Day seeks to draw attention to issues related to a growing global population. The world's population as of April 2016, is over 7.4 Billion. The world's population is rapidly surging with birth rates on the

rise and life expectancy increases. Over the last century, between 1916 and 2012, global life expectancy more than doubled

from 34 to 70 years while world population has quintupled from 1.5 billion to 7.3 billion between 1900 and 2016.

In 1989, the United Nations designated July 11th as World Population Day in an effort to garner attention for population is-

sues and crises such as displaced people, rights and needs of women and girls and population safety on a global level. With an

ever-growing world population, World Population Day serves to highlight the challenges and opportunities of this growth and

its impact on planet sustainability, heavy urbanization, availability of health care and youth empowerment.

World Population Day Top Events and Things to Do: Reduce your carbon footprint to slow global warming and pollution. Walk instead of driving, use energy sav-

ing light bulbs, carpool with others, turn down the AC/heat when you are not home, reuse and recycle pa-per, bottles and plastics.

Spread the word about birth control methods. Over half of the pregnancies every year in the US are un-planned and could have been prevented by birth control methods such as pills, rings, IUDs and condoms.

Take a shorter shower, turn off the water while brushing your teeth and avoid waste. As the population in-creases, clean safe water will become even more of a commodity.

Watch a documentary about population. Some of our favorites, Don't Panic: The Truth About Population, Over-populated and How Many People Can Live On The Planet.

Support an organization or charity that works on reproductive health education. Reproductive health education can help slow the AIDS epidemic, support pregnant women worldwide and provide contraceptive methods and education to those who need it most. Some organizations to consider include, the UN World Population Fund, In-ternational Planned Parenthood Federation and the World Population Foundation. Be present, pay attention, and recognize you are “one of many”. We all must be diligent because we share this space.

One of the things I struggle with:

... while planning for school and our future success what about the future of the Planet on

which we live? Do you think about that as you move through your day, talk with your children,

plan your shopping list, or plan a vacation? The Planet we call home is at risk, and in order for

it to be here for our children’s children we should incorporate some thoughtful strategies as we

live our lives.

Three suggestions that are simple but important and help make sure that we are paying atten-

tion:

Buy in bulk– avoid too much packaging. Items in your pantry such as flour, rice, beans, etc.

Buy toilet paper and paper towels in bigger quantities to reduce the packaging & avoid heading

to the store repeatedly and to

Pay attention to the kind of packaging used for the products you buy; glass is now recyclable

but can also be reused, don’t throw it away. Plastic doesn’t break down quickly in the landfill

but the recycling center will send it off to be repurposed and turned into new products. Plastics

get more toxic as they begin to breakdown so don’t put them into the landfill; reuse what you

can, recycle when you can, or buy your product in different packaging.

You can make some items you regularly purchase from simple supplies you may have at

home. Make them in glass containers so that when they are empty, you reuse the bottles to

make them again, i.e. laundry soap, tooth paste, hair rinse, face scrub.

Let’s all be thoughtful about what we use, and how we deal with the packaging. We need to

work together to keep our planet clean and here for everyone! We can do it!

September is all about people paying attention and being “one of many”,

embracing the differences between us and being charitable in spirit.

September 2017 is Observed as National Preparedness Month—donate socks, warm clothes, winter is not done yet!

Childhood Cancer Awareness Month– read to a child in the hospital, share your favorite story.

National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month– visit with someone who is sad, share resources.

National School Success Month– celebrate your success at school, you are almost done!

Family Health & Fitness Day USA– plan work out time for you and your family, let’s do it

together!

We are in an interesting time, we must be thoughtful and pay attention to those around us. We

know that many feel unsettled and scared but when we stand together as a community, we give

hope and strength to those around us.

Choose to volunteer this month• bring a smile to someone in the hospital• help out at the homeless

shelter• volunteer at school with your kids• if you see someone in need, reach out. You choose,

there are a zillion ways to reach out, a simple smile, help carrying groceries to a car.

What ever you choose to do, be thoughtful, pay attention, and allow yourself to

be “one of many”. It’s actually pretty cool. Life is a long journey and you are

not alone! Enjoy.
