Dario Pegoretti credits Gino Milani for teaching him the science and the art of building bicycles. From there, Pegoretti

moved to his own shop, where he continued to build frames. Pegoretti was among the fi rst of the European framebuilders

to embrace lugless TIG welding to build premium bicycles. In addition, Dario worked with leading edge manufacturers,

such as Excell and Dedacciai, in the development of new materials and tube sets. He earned a strong following among

professional riders, and built bikes for a number of elite teams. Recently the enterprise moved to a new shop, where Dario

builds a small number of fi ne bicycles, by hand, each year. In this world of cookie-cutter products Pegoretti occupies a

unique position as a true individual.

Le cose hanno una fi ne a un inizio. Luigino è un inizio, o meglio, la reincarnazione di un inizio. Cioccolata calda e gigli alla fi orentina, eccoci 40 anni in anticipo e 40 anni in ritardo rispetto a qualsiasi altro telaio in circolazione. A Leonardo sarebbe piaciuta, e anche a Luigino.

Looking at a Picasso painting, back at the beginning of the past century, someone said ‘it will be nice when it is fi nished’. Although this frame looks more like Mark Rothko, it has that Picasso-esque quality of looking dull to those who cannot see it. It could just be a Mediterranean still life, with or-anges and lemons, but that kind of stuff doesn’t grow under the Dolomites. Take a chance, you will never see anything like it at the Giro.

Guardando un quadro di Picasso, all’inizio del secolo scorso, un signore disse ‘sarà bello quando l’avrà fi nito’. Anche se questo telaio somiglia di più a un Mark Rothko, possiede la qualità dei Picasso di sembrare insulsi a chi non li sa vedere. Potrebbe semplicemente trattarsi di una natura morta mediterranea, ma quella è roba che non cresce sotto le Dolomiti. Tenta la sorte, non vedrai mai niente di simile al Giro.

Mi piace pensare che il nome di questo telaio sia Slim Leg BB, perché i colori e le linee mi ricordano Brigitte Bardot negli anni Sessanta, ai tempi delle minigonne. Ma il blu metallico è degli anni Settanta, prova a vederti in un negozio di biciclette negli anni Settanta in Italia, tutti i telai avevano questo tipo di blu silenzioso. Miles Davis ne avrebbe sicuramente comp-erato uno. Musica e geometria, ma la vera anima è nascosta dentro.

I’d like to think that this frame is called Slim Leg BB, just because the pattern and the colors remind me of Brigitte Bardot back in the Sixties, mini-skirts time. However, the metallic blue is from the Seventies, just picture yourself in a bike shop in the Seventies in Italy, every frame was this kind of blue, in a silent way. Miles Davis would have bought one. Music and geometry, but the true soul lives within.

A frame for all seasons, it looks cool in the summer and wintery when it is about to snow. In fact, so soft a ride that it feels like gliding on powdery snow. The closest thing, according to people in the know, to a snowboard on wheels. And stiff as steel, of course. Un telaio per tutte le stagioni, con un aspetto fresco per l’estate e invernale per quando si sente nell’aria odore di neve. Una guida così dolce che a pensarci si direbbe di planare su una coltre di neve fresca. Quanto di più vicino, secondo il parere di alcuni che la sanno lunga, a uno snowboard su due ruote. E rigido come l’acciaio, naturalmente.
