Families and the Gospel ~ Matthew 22:15-21
Jesus sounds like a frustrated parent when he says “Why
are you testing me?” Children test parents because that
is how they learn limits. Imitate Jesus in today’s gospel:
be firm but fair.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ BALANCING GOD AND CAESAR
"Then repay to Caesar what belongs to Caesar
and to God what belongs to God."
Matthew 22: 21
THOUGHTS ON STEWARDSHIP
AS A WAY OF LIFE
“Render therefore to Caesar the things that are
Caesar’s and to God the things that are God’s.”
Matthew 22: 21
Everything we are and everything we have belongs to
God. We aren’t “owners” of anything, we are merely
“stewards” of the gifts God has given each of us. All
God is asking is that we give back a portion of what He
gave us. This is the essence of Stewardship. God should
be our first priority in everything. All else comes
second.

Liturgical Reflection: October 22nd With the Order of Celebrating Matrimony without Mass, the
rite consists of the Liturgy of the Word and the Celebration of
Matrimony. There is no penitential rite or Glory to God. The
regular scripture readings offered for the celebration of
Matrimony are selected. There is always a homily. Following
the Universal Prayer, the concluding prayer is the Lord’s
Prayer. Omitting the “Deliver us,” the Nuptial Blessing is
prayed over the newly married couple. When two Catholics are
married, there may be Communion outside Mass. Also, the
local customs of placing a flower before the image of the
Blessed Mother, giving flowers to the mothers of the bride and
groom, and introducing the newly married couple may take
place.
Stewardship Reflection -29th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Each year at tax time, we conscientiously give to
“Caesar what belongs to Caesar.” Does my
stewardship indicate that I am also as faithful about
