Program Overview


Design a Moose

Design a Moose Use your creativity and design an outfit for your moose. Use as many colors as you wish!

Preparation:

Print out a black and white copy of the Design a Moose Worksheet.

Supplies Needed:

• Design a Moose Worksheet • Colored pencils, crayons, and/or markers

• Scissors (Optional)

Instructions:

Give each girl a Design a Moose worksheet. Encourage creativity when designing an outfit for their moose. Once they have completed it, have them write their name on the moose. You can collect all the moose and create a mural of moose!


Moose on the Loose

Preparation:

Print out a color copy of the Moose on the Loose Poster.

Supplies Needed:

• Moose on the Loose Poster

Instructions:

Our moose is on the loose and decided to go to the beach for the day. Can you spot him at the beach?


Moose Corner Bookmark

Preparation:

Print out color copies of the Moose Corner Bookmark Template. Set up a table where the girls can gather around and work on this project.

Supplies Needed:

• Moose Corner Bookmark Template • Scissors • Glue

Instructions:

Give each girl a print out of the Moose Corner Bookmark Template. Instruct the girls to carefully cut the square along the lines as well as the moose head. Work with the girls to follow the instructions to create the corner bookmark. Make sure to refer to the pictures provided. Once you have completed all necessary fold, glue the moose head to the corner bookmark. Let dry and use with your favorite book or journal!

Where would you like to travel?

Preparation:

Print out black and white copies of the Where Do the Girls Hope to Travel worksheet.

Supplies Needed:

• Where do the girls hope to travel worksheet

• Colored pencils or crayons

Instructions:

If you have a group larger than 12 girls, break the girls off into groups of 12 or less. Give each group a “Where do the girls hope to travel” worksheet along with 12 different colored pencils or crayons. Have the girls take turns and draw in 3 dots to the tope 3 states she would like to visit one day. Once everyone has a turn, talk amongst the group and see why the girls chose the states they did. Are there any similarities? Were there any states that weren’t chosen? Was there a favorite?


Basic Dart Plane

STEP 1 Fold the paper in half.

STEP 2 Unfold and then fold the corners into the center

line.

STEP 3 Again, fold the paper in half

STEP 4 Finally, fold the edges

down to meet the bottom of the body.

Preparation:

Print out black and white copies of the Paper Planes folding instructions

Supplies Needed:

• White, colored, and/or paper with prints

• Colored pencils or crayons (optional) • Stickers (optional)

Instructions:

Have the Paper Planes Folding Instructions printed out and spread throughout tables for the girls to refer to. Girls can take paper and create a plane. They can decorate with colored pencils/crayons and/or stickers. Let the girls fly their planes. See who can get their planes to travel the farthest!

Preparation:

Print out black and white copies of the Plan a Trip worksheet

Supplies Needed:

• Plan a Trip worksheet

• Pencil

Instructions:

Give each girl a Plan a Trip worksheet. Have the girls think of a state they would love to travel to. Figure out roughly how many miles it is away from their council. Have the girls answer the questions that they would need to answer if they were planning a trip such as when they want to travel, what type of transportation, who are they going to take etc. Once the girls have completed the worksheet, talk amongst the group about all the places they planned their trip. Discuss all the cool activities they planned to see as well as sightseeing that they might have had on their list.

How Well Do You Know Your Products?

Preparation:

Print out color copies of Know Your Products Memory Game. Once you have them printed out, cut out the cards. To make a complete deck, you must print out 2 copies. Use the cards of the products that your council is using during the fall product program. Make enough “decks” of the products so multiple girls can be playing.

Supplies Needed:

• Deck of Know Your Products Memory Game

Instructions:

Mix the cards up and turn them picture side down. The objective is to collect the most pairs of cards. The youngest player goes first. Play then continues in a clockwise direction. On each turn, a player turns over any two cards (one at a time) and keeps them if the cards match (for instance, two Mint Trefoils). If they successfully match a pair they get to keep the cards, and that player gets another turn. When a player turns over two cards that do not match, those cards are turned face down again and it becomes the next player’s turn. The trick is to remember where the cards are. The person with the most pairs at the end of the game wins.

Step 1 Print the bookmark template on plain white paper. Trim

along the lines to cut out the square.

Step 2 Fold square in half

diagonally to create a triangle. Both colored areas should show on top of the

triangle.

Step 3 Flip the

triangle over.

Step 4 Fold each outer corner of the triangle to meet together at the top of the triangle and form a face. When doing this, make

sure the two sides of the face line up. Press along all the folds to crease.

Step 5 Open up the last fold you did so

you are back to the original triangle. Fold the top point of the triangle down, using only

the top layer of paper.

Step 6 Fold one corner back up and tuck it in the

“pocket” created in the last step. Repeat with

the other corner.

Step 7 Cut out moose head and add

adhesive along the straight edge

Step 4 Adhere the moose face to the corner

bookmark.

Where in the world do the girls of TROOP # hope to travel?

Directions: With your troop, each girl colors in a square and writes their name next to their color. The girls can take turns and use their color and draw a dot on 3 states they hope to visit one day. Once each girl has taken their turn, take a step back and look at all the states. See which states are popular and chosen by multiple girls are there any states that were not chosen? Have the girls talk amongst the group as to why they want to visit those states. Is there anything special they want to do or see?

*Larger troops can break this activity into groups. TROOP MEMBERS
