Mothers CircleFor interfaith families raising Jewish childrenClasses now forming

If you are a woman of another religious background who has decided to raise your children in the Jewish faith, The Mother’s Circle may be just what you’ve been looking for to help you along this path. Beginning this fall, the JCC will be offering free workshops in this exciting program, which comes to us through the Jewish Outreach Institute (JOI). JOI is a national,

independent, trans-denominational organization seeking to empower and assist the Jewish community to welcome and fully embrace all members of intermarried and unaffiliated families into Jewish life. The Mothers Circle creates comfortable spaces for women to learn about Judaism, explore Jewish holidays and rituals, discover how to enrich their families’ Jewish experience, and deepen their connection to the religion of their partners and children — and to do so with their peers. The Mothers Circle course requires a commitment to twice-monthly meetings for eight months. In addition, participants will become part of a national listserv, and will have the opportunity to attend a wide variety of one-time programs open to interfaith families, and, at times, the entire community. Spaces are limited and going quickly; sign up soon.To register or learn more about the program, visit www.themotherscircle.org or contact Sharon Seigel: 410.356.5200, x347, or [email protected] program is supported by grants to the Jewish Outreach Institute from the Hoffberger Foundation and the The Jacob & Hilda Blaustein Fund of The Associated. Additional funding has been provided by the Ben and Esther Rosenbloom Foundation.

JCC Early Childhood Education ProgramsEnriching the whole child in a nurturing environment

The Rosenbloom Owings Mills ECE program offers nursing services. Nurses develop and implement curriculum, provide medical assistance to all children, ensure that all immunizations are up-to-date, and work to enhance the well-being of the families whom we serve. Both Early Childhood Education programs employ a part-time JFS social worker to help children, their families, and our staff on a wide range of developmental issues. The Owings Mills JCC houses the first early childhood library in the area designed specifically for preschoolers; the children enrolled in our programs have many opportunities to explore books in this terrific facility.

The Infant/Toddler Educare ProgramThe Infant/Toddler Educare Program at the Weinberg Park Heights JCC serves families with infants and toddlers ages 3 to 24 months. These youngest of children are lovingly tended by our licensed childcare specialists. Our state-of-the-art, self-contained infant/toddler rooms are stocked with individual cribs, changing tables, rocking chairs, and toys to entertain, engage, comfort, and soothe the little ones. The Infant/Toddler Educare Program is open Monday through Friday, beginning at 7:00am daily, and ending Monday-Thursday at 6:00pm. On Fridays, closing time varies in accordance with Shabbat.

Preschool/ Preschool PlusOur Preschool and Preschool Plus programs provide children ages two through five with a well-rounded, age-appropriate curriculum. Experienced and certified early childhood education teachers engage children in activities designed to develop emotional, social, cognitive, physical, and spiritual growth. Children gain self-confidence, develop friendships, and explore new concepts. Daily activities include energetic play, music, art, circle time, Hebrew, story time, computer/science, cooking, swimming, and creative play. We also introduce children to the customs and traditions of Jewish life, including culture, ethics, Shabbat celebrations, and holidays. We offer morning and extended day programs, as well as an early drop-off option (as early as 7:00am). For parents who need the added benefit of extended hours and year-round childcare, the “Preschool Plus” program is available at both JCC locations. Our nurturing environment for two, three, four, or five days a week will comfortably be your child’s “home away from home.”
