Instruction for a simple marble bag. 1.) Cut two pieces of fabric into 10 3/4 inch by 5 inch rectangles. 2.) Place piece right sides together, and pin one long side together, measuring in 4 ½ inches from each corner 3.) Sew from pin to the corner on both sides of the rectangle. ½ inch seam allowance. 4.) Press. Press seam open. There will be a 2 inch opening in the center of the seam. Using a satin stich (tight zigzag), sew up and down both sides of the opening, using care that each side is kept separate from each other. (seam allowance shown below, satin stich represented by thick lines).

Simple sewing project. Instructions for making a fabric marble bag. This is a great first sewing project for children. Sewing time is 15 minutes for an experienced sewer. Allow one full meeting (1 hour) for a group of about 6 children with 2 leaders and 2 sewing machines. Great for cub scouts, girl scouts, 4-H, and other community or church groups.

3.) Sew from pin to the corner on both sides of the rectangle. inch seam allowance.

4.) Press. Press seam open. There will be a 2 inch opening in the center of the seam. Using a satin stich (tight zigzag), sew up and down both sides of the opening, using care that each side is kept separate from each other. (seam allowance shown below, satin stich represented by thick lines).

5.) Fold rectangle in half hot dog style, right sides together, pin and sew remaining three side together.

6.) Press seams (remain closed) Clip corners. And turn right sides out.

7.) Push half of the rectangle inside of the other half of the rectangle to form a self-lined bag.

8.) Sew about one inch from upper edge of bag to form a casing. Insert a shoe string through the casing and tie ends together to form a drawstring.
