Online Learning Management System (LMS)
Our Aviation English curriculum is designed to train current and aspiring aviation
professionals. Most of the coursework is designed for 'selfstudy'. Students are registered and
trained via one of our LMS websites. An LMS site hosts all the courses, student registrations,
quizzes, and grades. Our LMS supports audio/visual content as well as interactive forums.
All courses are divided in small modules/sections. Each of these sections include audio/visual
and graphic content to help out english learners with varying capabilities. The timed quizzes
are also part of the curriculum that help students to keep track of their progress. Some quizzes
are writing or speaking exercises. These are manually graded by instructors.
Some parts of the course would require interactive conversations with the instructors. We
have found that the use of Skype / Google Hangouts for those parts of the course is the most
effective medium.

Aviation English Placement Test
We work with students with varying levels of previously acquired English language
capabilities. We have learned that it is very important that we place our students at the right
level of rigor for two reasons. Firstly, to determine the level of competency and skill they
currently possess and secondly to enable our instructors to plan interactive lessons which aid
the areas of weaknesses and boost overall communication skills. Students not recommended
to enroll in Aviation English courses are asked to take English as a Second Language (ESL)
classes first.
Our Aviation English Placement Test (AEPT) is designed to test students from different angles
with varying levels of difficulty. We test the students for basic and advance grammar, reading
comprehension (see example below), writing abilities, and some advanced level skills. Based
on the outcome of the AEPT, instructors recommend the right course or prerequisite courses.
In most cases the AEPT is the first thing a student will go through.

The course is divided into "Lessons". These lessons
gradually become more complex. Each lesson is
composed of 'bite-sized' sections that provide
manageable work load for self-study.
The sections are
focused on
aviation specific
terms and concepts.
For each lesson individual
sessions can be scheduled
with the instructor for
practice. These
interactive sessions
develop confidence and
provide a chance for the
instructor to identify and
work on areas that need
more work.

Each module has audio introduction of the course. The
audio is narrated at a steady slow pace, so that a student
can follow it. Many of our students also use these
recordings as practice exercises too.
The listening
exercises
are accompanied
with interactive
quizzes. These help
the students and their
instructor keep track of
the progress.
Listening exercises
are the hall-mark of
our Aviation English
course. These exercises are
taken from real-life
scenarios that arise in day-
to-day aviation industry.

Professional graphics are part
of modules. These graphics help
students - especially the ones who are
not exposed to certain operational
aspects of the industry, visualize and
better understand the context of
conversations.
Special emphasis is placed
on the pronunciation of key
phrases and terms - including
numbers. Coupled with audio
recordings, our students find these
exercises very helpful .
Parts of the course, gently expose
students to related domains
such as weather - and how
to communicate those in a
clear and concise way.
