Written by: Camryn Norman Every year during December, Margaret Elementary has an event called Reading Wonderland. Each classroom picks a book and decorates a tree based on that book. The night of Reading Wonderland is a festive time at school and gives families time to see their child’s work. Cookies and hot chocolate were served in the lunchroom. Families were able to listen to Christmas music as they walked the halls. This year Santa flew in on a helicopter and landed on the field to greet the children. Reading Wonderland is always a favorite for families at Margaret.

Friends, Food, and Fun Written by: Sarah Self The fall festival was nothing but excitement and thrilling activities. There were candy booths, games, jumpies, and hay rides. Oh, and don’t forget about the deep fried Oreos! It was such a fun event to attend. Fall Festival is always in October, but this year it was on Halloween. It started off as a rainy morning but then the sun came out to make it a nice day. There was also a balloon man, face painting, food booths, hair painting, and cake walks. It seemed that all students and adults enjoyed themselves.

Veterans Day

Written by: Cole Roddam

Veterans Day is when we honor the men and women who have served in our military. Veterans Day is always observed on November 11th. Students and teachers helped create a mural in the front hallway to honor veterans in our community. Grades K-2 had a poster contest. Miss Lambert’s class was the winner and Mrs. Mayfield’s class was the runner up. The 3rd-5th grade choir had a Veterans Day program. Veterans came to our school during the week of November 10th to talk to students about their service. We are thankful to all the men and women who have served in our military.

Leader of the Month Written by: Kylie Bowker Sarah Self was selected as leader of the month. She is in Mrs. Crowe’s 5th grade class. Sarah earned leader of the month for showing leadership qualities. Sarah’s favorite subject is social studies. Her hobby outside of school is riding horses.

All About Miss Day

The teacher we interviewed was Miss Day. Miss Day teaches 1st grade. This is her second year teaching at Margaret. She went to school at Jacksonville State University. Miss Day helps with choir and she is a cheerleading coach at Margaret. Her favorite book

is The Lemonade Club by Patricia Polacco. Her favorite superhero is Batman and she likes Alabama football. In her free time she likes to read, spend time with family and friends, and play with her dog, Maverick.

Count Your Blessings

Written by: Cason Ragsdale The lunchroom served a delicious Thanksgiving meal that included turkey, dressing, sweet potato casserole, and other traditional favorites. Family members were invited to attend lunch with their children. Students wore festive attire like Native American headdresses and Pilgrim hats to celebrate and remember the first Thanksgiving. Mrs. Mandy and the lunchroom staff did a fantastic job with our school’s Thanksgiving lunch!
