Lab setup guide overview

The purpose of this lab setup guide is to assist the classroom preparer in setting up the ZU370 classroom lab environment. This guide is separated into two parts:

• "Requirements for classroom lab workstations" on page 5

• "Creating the lab environment manually (non-VMware)" on page 7

The classroom preparer needs to complete only one of the two parts to complete the classroom lab environment.

Important

The lab exercises are designed to run within VMware virtual machine images.

Contact your WebSphere Education representative immediately if your classroom set-up does not support VMware virtual machines.

The classroom must be ready to run lab exercises before the first day of class.

Creating the lab environment manually (non-VMware)

The following section provides information about how to manually create the lab environment that is needed to conduct the lab exercises in this course.

Perform the manual lab setup under the following conditions only:

• You are not allowed to install VMware virtualization software.

• You tried to perform the lab setup using VMware virtualization software and you were unable to successfully install the software on the student or instructor workstation.

• Verification of the virtual machine image settings, including network connectivity, failed.

Important

Contact your WebSphere Education representative before attempting to perform these steps.

As the classroom provider, you are responsible for providing: Enter the number of workstations required per student. For example, one student workstation per student or one student workstation for every two students.

• One workstation for the instructor;

• For each student in the class, one workstation.

For example, a class with 12 students and one instructor requires 13 workstations.

Each workstation must meet the following hardware, software, and network requirements for the ZU370 course.

Hardware requirements

This section lists the recommended hardware requirements for a student workstation. In the table, enter the hardware requirements for a student workstation.
