Year 5/6 EPA Swimming Gala

On Monday 11th March a team of year 5 & 6 children attended the EPA swimming gala at Carterton. Both of our

teams performed amazingly. They represented the school with pride & showed great termination and

sportsmanship throughout. Huge congratulations to Ben (Y6) for setting two new EPA records in both the butterfly

& backstroke individual events!

Well done to all that took part this year.

Year 6 – Primary Pop Concert

On 12th March, most of year 6 went to Primary Pop – a concert for children. The

majority of the songs were from musicals like Mamma Mia, The Greatest

Showman and Matilda. Other songs however were from artists like The Spice

girls and Olly Murs. We travelled on a coach to Oxford Music Centre. We arrived

there at around 2.15pm before having a rehearsal. It was a lot of fun singing

along with the conductors. We finished practising and had a break for dinner.

We started our first concert at 5pm and the next concert at 7pm. Overall it was a

day of fantastic fun that everyone enjoyed.

Report by Maisie (Y6)

EPA Year 1 & 2 Dance Festival

This week children from Years 1 & 2 attended a Dance Festival at Bartholomew School with other EPA primary

schools. Using dance they retold the story ‘Saturday Night at the Dinosaur Stomp‘. The fantastic sports leaders

from Bartholomew School helped them learn their moves and provided lots of

encouragement.

The Dance Festival concluded with a performance from all of the groups. The

children’s behaviour was exemplary throughout the morning, demonstrating that

they were Ready, Respectful and Responsible at all times.

Well done Years 1 and 2!

Singing Squad – Voice in a Million Concert

Singing Squad had the most fantastic time at Wembley last Thursday evening! I would like to congratulate each and every member of Singing Squad for their hard work and effort during rehearsals for the past couple of months. Well done!

Singing Squad also had the opportunity to meet and greet RoadTrip, New Hope Club and Bring it North, we then later saw these bands perform which we were all very

excited about!! Thank you to all the children and parents for their continual support and enthusiasm.

I look forward to now preparing the children for our next event... NAPE - Oxfordshire Festival of Voices - which will be held on 20th June 2019 at Dorchester Abbey. There will be no choir rehearsals next week, enjoy the rest! Miss Cullen.

Thank you A big thank you to all that took part…World Book Day raised £204.00 for the school English resources. This is a fantastic amount which we will use to purchase more reading books and materials for the whole school to enjoy. Apologies for the delay in the children receiving their vouchers, they should all have brought them home within the last few days, these can be redeemed at participating retailers until 31st March 2019.

STAFFING NEWS: I am pleased to inform you that Mr William Reeves has successfully been recruited as the substantive Deputy Headteacher and has taken the position up from immediate effect. From September 19, Mrs Edwards will take up the position of Assistant Headteacher with the responsibility of SENCo. Mrs Bayliss will continue to act as SENCo until the end of the academic year. Earlier this month, I was successful in appointing two new class teachers who will each have the responsibility of being a phase leader. We will be welcoming Mr Thomas Webberley-Brant and Miss Rosie Warrington who are both incredibly strong teachers and will bring a wealth of experience to Eynsham. I am very excited about welcoming them to Team Eynsham in September.
