Cruise Terminal Retail Opportunities

Macquarie Wharf No. 2 Cruise Terminal— Overview

Cruise season overview:

The 2014/15 Hobart cruise ship season will commence on 28th October, 2014 and conclude on 18th May, 2015.

During the cruise ship season, Hobart will see 39 cruise vessels carrying around 100,000 passengers and crew arrive at the port and pass through the Macquarie Wharf No. 2 Cruise Terminal.

A full Schedule of Hobart Cruise Ship Arrivals 2014/15 can be found in Appendix A of this document.

Macquarie Wharf No. 2 Cruise Terminal:

The Macquarie Wharf No. 2 Cruise Terminal provided cruise passengers and crew with an efficient processing space and high level of service and amenity.

Following the completion of redevelopment works, the terminal was in operation for the first time during the 2013/14 cruise ship season. The Cruise Terminal has been a welcome addition to the city of Hobart, greatly improved the arrival experience for cruise ship passengers and crew arriving at the Port of Hobart and offering essential services including seating, amenities, passenger meeting point and visitor information and welcome meet and greet.

The Macquarie Wharf No. 2 Cruise Terminal is 2,200m in size, comprised of approximately 1,400m of open plan space.

A limited amount of space within the Cruise Terminal will be designated towards retail establishments for the provision of goods or services of benefit to the Cruise Ship passengers and crew.

Applications from the market will be sourced for these retail offerings and services and space to lease will be offered to successful proponents delivered through the Expressions of Interest Process.

Cruise Terminal retail and services application process:

Information on how to submit an application for the retail and services being sought for Macquarie Wharf No. 2 Cruise Terminal for the 2014/15 cruise ship season is contained in the following pages of this Expressions of Interest Pack:

Step 1: Review the categories and criteria for the retail and services sought

Step 2: If you have a retail or service that falls under a sought category and meets all specified criteria then you may be eligible to submit an application. To apply, complete the Expressions of Interest Application Form (Appendix B) and submit via the contact details listed before close of business on Friday 1st August

Step 3: Following the closure of the application period, all applications will be reviewed and applicants notified on the outcome of their application or contacted to progress their application by Friday 29th August

Macquarie Wharf No. 2 Cruise Terminal— Cruise Ship Season Retail Opportunities

Cruise Terminal retail and services sought:

Following the results of a survey conducted with cruise passengers, a list of retail offerings and services has been developed that will be sought from market through an Expressions of Interest process to appoint providers in the cruise terminal. Those retail offerings that are specifically sought through the 2014/15 Expressions of Interest process include:

1. Duty free retail Currency exchange 2. High quality local crafts and souvenirs 3. Hire car desk 4. Coffee cart/refreshment stand with WIFI 5. Entertainment (non-commercial arrangement) 6. Management of terminal advertising space

Criteria:

All applications for retail and service providers must adhere to the following criteria:

1. Services and retail offerings must be relevant to the cruise ship segment, passengers and crew and fall under one of the categories listed above

2. Stalls must be of a flexible nature and able to be moved in and out of the terminal easily by the retailer. All stock needs to be brought in and set up on the day of the cruise ship visit and removed at the conclusion of each business day*

3. Services and retail offerings must not directly compete with offerings aboard the cruise ship** 4. Services and retail must be offered consistently on all cruise ship dates and at times of peak passenger

transition through the terminal*** 5. Merchandise must be of high quality and promote local Tasmanian or Australian products

Notes: * Due to the management structure of Macquarie Wharf No. 2 requiring the facility to be available for event use outside of

cruise ship days, all retail infrastructure must be able to be moved in and out of the terminal fully and stored offsite by the retailers should the cruise terminal be booked for an event

** Specifically no tour products or booking services can be offered within the cruise terminal *** A consideration for retailers considering submitting an application is the fluctuation between times the terminal is occupied

by passengers and periods where the terminal occupation is low. Peak periods within the terminal are around passenger disembarkation and several hours prior to departure. This can create large periods of time during the middle of the day where there are few passengers in the terminal and business is quiet as a result

How to apply:

Complete the attached Cruise Terminal Retail Expressions of Interest Application Form found in Appendix B and submit with any requested supporting photos or documentation before close of business on Friday 1st August, 2014.

Review process:

Applications received during the application period will be reviewed following the closure of the application period by a committee comprised of representatives from Tasports, Hobart City Council and Destination Southern Tasmania to develop a preferred list of proponents.

Applicants deemed suitable who are shortlisted to the preferred list of proponents will be contacted to progress their application with the intention to progress to discussions around a commercial lease arrangement for the cruise ship season.

Note: Tasports reserves all rights to allocate retail space or remove services from those being offered in the terminal based on

the suitability and standard of the expressions of interest applications received.
