USEFUL INFORMATION

How do the children get there?

OurJuniorSchoolchildrenarecollectedbyourstaff,andescortedtothesetting.OurInfantchildrenareescortedbyschoolstafftous.Staffknowwhichchildrenareattendingeachday.Wehaveamobilecontactnumberfordailymessages(telephone07789206685).Whenyourchildstartswithuswewillaskyoutoinformtheirclassteacher,Headteacherandofficestaffsothatallconcernedknowyourchild’smovementsfromdaytoday,ensuringtheirsafetyatalltimes.

What happens if the days I require are not available?

Wewilldoourutmosttoprovidechildcareforthedaysandtimesyourequire.Ifthisisnotpossiblewewilladdyournametothewaitinglistandif/whenaplacethatsuitsyourrequirementsbecomesavailablewewillinformyouimmediately,wemaybeabletoofferyoualternativedaysinthemeantime.

What happens at arrival and collection from the setting?

Itistheresponsibilityoftheparenttoregisterchildrenwithamemberofstaffonarrivalforamorningsession.Whencollectingyourchildfromus,pleaseensuretheyhavebeensignedout.IfyouwouldlikeyourchildtowalktoDenmeadExpresswewillneedwrittenconsent(overeightyearoldsonly)

What happens if my child becomes unwell while at the setting?

Ifyourchildbecomesunwell,everyeffortwillbemadetocontactyou.Intheeventofanemergency wereservetherighttotakeyourchildtohospital. What will happen if my child has an accident whilst in your care?

AnyaccidentsthathappenwillbedealtwithbyaFirstAidqualifiedmemberofstaff.Theywillcarryoutanynecessarytreatmentandcompleteanaccidentformforyoutosignwhenyoucollectyourchild.Thiswillbesignedbyaseniormemberofstaffandanytrendsorcommonissueswillbepickeduponamonthlybasis.Intheeventofaheadinjury,youwillreceiveanadvicesheetfromustoexplainanynecessaryaction.Ifyourchildhashadanaccidentathomepleaseinformamemberofstaffatthestart ofthesessionandyouwillbegivenapre-existinginjuryformtocomplete.

What happens if my child needs medication?

Firstaidqualifiedmembersofstaffareabletogivechildrenmedicinethatisprescribedbyadoctoronly,aslongasthechildiswellinthemselvesanddoesnothaveanyinfectionsorillnessesthatrequirethemtostayawayfromDenmeadExpress.If your child is prescribed medication that they have not had before e.g. antibiotics, you will need to keep them at home for the first 48 hours due to allergies or any side effects that may occur.

Ifyourchildrequiresongoingmedication(aninhaler,insulin,epipenetc.)youwillbeaskedtofillinacareplanwhichdetailsthecondition,treatmentneededandanymeasuresweneedtoputinplacetoassistthechild.Wewillputinplaceanyextrameasuresweneedtosupporttheneedsofeverychild.Medicationneededdailyneedstobeleftonsiteorbroughtinwiththechilddaily.We reserve the right to refuse childcare should the appropriate medication not be available to us.


Pick up - what will happen?

Onyourchild’sfirstdayyouwillbeaskedtoletyourchild’sschool/teacherknowthatDenmeadExpresswillbecollectingyourchild.Allmembersofstaffareinpinkorgreent-shirtsandhighvisibilityjacketstoidentifythem,andmostarenowknowntothelocalschool.Onarrivalyourchildwillbegivenahealthysnackandthenjoininwiththearrangedactivitiesforthatday.

What happens if my child does not arrive to the designated collection point?

Ifyourchilddoesnotarrivetothedesignatedcollectionpointamemberofstaffwillcheckwiththeschoolreceptionforattendance.Ifthechilddidnotattendandtheparenthasforgottentoinformus,wewillcrossthemoffourregister.Ifthechilddidattendthenamemberofstaffwillcontacttheparent.Iftheparentcannotbecontactedthestaffwillinformtheschoolandaskthemtocontactusshouldthechildarriveorbefound.Thestaffwillthenmakearrangementstocollect.Thestaffwillcontinuetotryandcontacttheparentuntilthechildswhereaboutsandsafetyhasbeenestablished.

What will happen if I am late collecting my child?

Thelatecollectionchargeis£10per5minutesafteryourchild’ssessionhasfinished,thiswillbeinvoicedseparately.Pleaseinformusifyouaregoingtobelate.Ifyourchildhasnotbeencollectedbytheendoftheirsessionandyouhavenotcontactedus,thefollowingprocedurewillapply.Youwillbecontactedathomeoratworkonthenumbersprovided,ifthisisunsuccessfulthepersonsnamedontheemergencycontactlistandthoseauthorisedtocollectwillbecontactedonthenumbersprovided,allreasonableattemptswillbemadetocontactparentsandemergencycontacts.Ifno-onecollectsthechildafter30minutesandthereisno-onethatcanbecontactedwewillapplyproceduresforanuncollectedchild.Children’sserviceswillbecontacted;thechildwillremainon-sitewith2membersofstaff (atleastonewillbequalified)thatareknowntothechilduntiltheyarecollectedeitherbyaparent orChildren’sServices.

What happens if someone else needs to collect my child from the setting?

Wehaveanextremelystringentsafeguardingpolicythatrequiresyoutoinformusifanyoneelseisgoingtocollectyourchildbeforeweallowthemtogo.Weworkonapasswordsystem;everychildhastheirownindividualpasswordsetbyyou.Thisneedstobegiventothepersoncollectingastheywillberequiredtogiveitoncollection.Wewillonlyletachildgowithapersonnamedontheirenrolmentformandoncewehavereceivedpermissionfromyou.Pleaseensurethatyoukeepyourchild’srecordsuptodateatalltimes,thisincludespersonsauthorisedtocollectyourchild,contactnumbers,change ofaddressandallergyinformation.

What happens if I have a worry I want to discuss?

IfyourchildisYearR,youwillbeallocatedakeypersonwhoisyourfirstportofcallifyouwouldliketodiscussanyissues.HoweverifyouwouldliketospeaktoaseniormemberofstaffyoucantalktotheDeputyManagerLesleyMintonorChildcareorCo-ordinators(SarahGallienneorBeckyPhillips)


How and when do I need to pay?

Everymonthinfullincludingabsencesduetosicknessandscheduledholidaysthatoccurduringtermtime.

Feescanbepaidviacash,cheques,TaxFreeChildcareorchildcarevouchersbutpleaseensureyoucollectareceiptwhenpaymenthasbeenmadeasthisisyourproofofpayment.IfyouarepayingbychildcarevoucherspleaseinformDoreenGrimesorDeliaLoftuswhichschemeyouareusingandprovideaprintoutasproofofpayment.Pleaseseepaymentoffeespolicyforfurtherinformation.

Feesaretobepaidweeklyormonthlyandallchequesaretobemadepayableto“HorndeanTechnologyCollege”.Theinvoicemonthandyourchildsnamemustbeprintedonthereverseofthecheque.Beforeyourchildstartsyouwillberequiredtocompleteanattendanceagreementform.

Ifpaymentisnotreceivedbythe14ofeverymonththefollowinglatechargeswillincurperinvoice.

When are you open?

Atpresent,weareopenduringtermtimefrom7.45am-9.00amand3.00pm–6.00pm.Wealsohavefull-dayandhalfdayprovisionforschoolholidaysbasedatDimensionChildcareinHorndeanTechnologyCollege.Youcanregisteryourchildforasmanysessionsasrequired.Beforeyourchildcanstartaregistrationformmustbecompletedstatingemergencycontactnumber,allergies,specialneedsetc.Allinformationistreatedinthestrictestconfidence.

Do I need to provide outdoor clothing?

Childrenplayoutsidemostdays,aslongasweatherconditionsallow.Thereforeeverychildneedstobesuppliedwithsuncreamandasunhatduringsummermonths.

Duringwintermonthschildrenwillneedasuitablecoat,hat,glovesandscarftobeabletoplayoutside.Childrenwillnotbeabletoplayoutsideiftheydonothavetheappropriateclothing.


What is your induction procedure?

IfyouarethinkingofsendingyourchildtoDenmeadExpressthenyoumustbookavisitfirst.Thisgivesyourchildachancetomeetallthestaffandbegintogethis/herbearingsinanewenvironment.Onyourfirstvisit,ifpossible,youwillarriveintimeforjuiceandsnackwhereyourchildcanjoininandgettomeetsomeofthechildrenattending.ThisalsogivestheparentstheopportunitytohaveachatwiththeDeputyManageroroneofthestaff,whocanansweranyquestionsyoumayhave.Ifyouwouldliketogoawayandthinkaboutityouarefreetodoso,ormakeanotherappointmenttovisitagainwhenyouhavemoretime.NochildcanbecollectedfromschooluntilacopyoftheRegistrationFormsandAttendanceAgreementFormisgiventoDenmeadExpress.Ifyourchildhasapersonalpreferenceastohowhe/shewouldliketobeaddressed,pleasenotethisdownontheregistrationform.

THE EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION STAGE EXPLAINED

AtDenmeadExpresswefollowtheEarlyYearsFoundationStagecurriculum(EYFS)inordertoachieveeachindividualchild’sfullpotential.TheEYFSisaframeworkwhichsetsthestandardsforlearning,developmentandcare.Theframeworkappliestoallchildrenagedfrombirthtofiveyearsold.

TheEYFScurriculumbasesitselfaroundtheindividualneedsofchildren.Werecogniseasasettingthatchildrenareuniqueandwilldevelopatdifferentrates.Wethereforecarryoutindividualplanningandprovideactivitiessuitableforeachchild’sabilitywithinourenvironment.

Asasettingwebelievethatitisimportantforstaffandparentstoworktogethertosupportandmeettheindividualneedsofeachchild.

Observationsofchildren’sspontaneousplayarecarriedoutonadailybasisbyallstaffandrecordedintheirownpersonallearningjournals,whichareaccessibletoparentsatalltimes.Practitionerswillusetheseobservationstoplanforchildren’sneeds.

Thereare3characteristicsoflearning-playingandexploring,activelearning,andcreatingandthinkingcritically.Thewaysinwhichthechildengageswithotherpeopleandtheirenvironmentunderpinlearninganddevelopmentacrossallareasandsupportthechildtoremainaneffectiveandmotivatedlearner.

There are 3 characteristics of learning- playing and exploring, active learning, and creating and thinking critically. The ways in which the child engages with other people and their environment underpin learning and development across all areas and support the child to remain an effective and motivated learner.

Areas of learning and development There are 7 areas of learning and development; 3 prime areas and 4 specific areas. Prime areas develop quickly through experiences and relationships and are fundamental throughout the EYFS to support all other areas of learning. Specific areas include essential skills and knowledge for children to participate successfully in society, these grow from the prime areas and provide important contexts for learning.

Payment of fees policy

TheleveloffeeswillbesetbytheregisteredpersonandreviewedannuallyinthelightofDenmeadExpressfinancialposition,itsfuturestrategicplansandanyotherbroadereconomicorsocialconsiderationsdeemedrelevant.

Paymentoffeesshouldbepaidweeklyormonthly,ifmonthlypaidbythe14ofeachmonthincludingthosepaidbyvoucher.

Ifpaymentisnotreceivedbythe14ofthemonththefollowinglatechargewillbeleviedperinvoice.£0-£100£10£101-£200£20£201-£300£30andsoon

Anyoutstandingpaymentscouldresultinyourchild’sspacebeingsuspended

LatepaymentchargesalsoapplytoinvoicespaidbyVouchers.

Additionalsessionswillonlybeconsiderediftheaccountisincreditandwillbechargedatfullrate.

Anyreturnedchequeswillincuran£8.00standardchargewhichwillbereviewedannually.

Parentswishingtonegotiatethis,oranyotheralterationtothestandardfeepolicyshouldarrange ameetingwiththemanagerattheearliestopportunity.

Iffeesarenotpaidontimethesettingwillnotifytheparentinwritingandrequestpaymentattheearliestpossibleopportunity.

Shouldtherebenoresponsetothefirstletter,asecondletterwillthenbesentfromthecommunityFacilitiesManagerrequestingthatthepaymentbemadewithinthenext14daysorapaymentplantobeputinplaceandsignedbytheparentandaseniormemberofstaff.

Shouldtherebenopaymentsmadeorpaymentplanagreedathirdletterwillbesentadvisingthatshouldnoeffortbemadetoresolvethematterwithin10daysitwillresultintherelevantpaperworkbeingsenttoHampshireCountyCouncil’slegaldepartmentandsuspensionoftheChild’splacewillbeimmediate.Thiswillalsobeinplaceifpaymentplanhasbeendefaulted. ItistheParent’sresponsibilitytoaskfortheinvoicepriortopaymentduedatetheywillbeavailable inadvance.


Althoughweunderstandthatunavoidablecircumstancescanoccurresultinginyourchildbeingcollectedlate,wehavenoalternativebuttolevyalatecollectionchargeof£10forevery5minuteslateorpartthereof.

Registeredsessionscannotbeswapped,althoughsessionscanbechangedpermanentlyifrequestedinwriting,subjecttoavailability.

Allextrasessionsbookedmustbepaidforinfullwhethertheyareusedornotandcannotbecancelled orswapped.

Wewouldliketodrawyourattentiontoourexclusionpolicy;thisisinlinewiththeadvicefromtheHealthProtectionAgency.Thewelfareofthechildreninourcareisimportanttousandwethereforeaskthatyou

adheretothefollowingguidelines.Weunderstandhowdifficultitistojuggleworkandfamilycommitments;howeveritisunfairandunnecessarytoexposeotherchildrenandstafftoinfection.

Theremaybetimeswhenwecontactyouandaskyoutocollectyourchild.Thiswillbewhenwefeeltheyaretoounwelltobeatthesetting,weareconcernedtheymaybedisplayingsymptomsconnectedtotheillness/infectionsasstatedontheexclusionchartortheyriskspreadinganillnessorinfectionwithinthesetting.

Anynotifiedoutbreakswillbedisplayedonthemaindoor.
