Proposed Study III To study the effectiveness of

collaborative learning in learning Information Technology?

Hypotheses: H0: Adopting collaborative learning will have

the same understanding of the topic compare with instructional teaching approach

Ha: Adopting collaborative learning in Computer Literacy Subject will have the different understanding of the topic compare with instructional teaching approach

How could data for the variable be collected? Participants

FD Year one students, who take the module of “Information Technology Application (ITA)”

Sampling method Two groups of student was selected:

apply collaborative learning approach and normal instructional teaching approach

Experimental group: Apply collaborative learning approach

Control group: Normal instructional approach

How could data for the variable be collected? Sample size

50 students within the discipline

Duration 1 semester

Collaborative learning Dependent variable

Module result (ITA)

Select 2 groups of student from FD Year 1 within the same discipline

1 group will receive collaborative learning approach, and other will receive instructional teaching approach.

The experimental process Experimental group

2-3 students (1 small group) share 1 computer during the practical lesson

A practical task will be given to the students after they received the basic knowledge

A small group has to submit one work to LMS (Treatment X1)

Record the test result of students

The experimental process Control group

Ratio of computer and student = 1:1

1 student has to submit one work to LMS (Treatment X2)

Record the test result of students

The experimental process After the end of semester,

compare the 2 sets of test data

Measurement

T test: the mean score of ITA result of both groups will be measured.

H0 will be rejected if p < 0.05

This experiment helps to evaluate the effectiveness of collaborative learning in the practical part of Information Technology learning
