A Combined Network of Strength and Expertise

In the OneMBA program, participants benefit from

the combined strengths of five different top-ranked

institutions located on four contrasting continents.

This provides a diversity of perspectives and expertise

unequalled by any single institution or program.

Participants in the OneMBA program receive an MBA

degree from their home university and the OneMBA

certificate issued by the five partner schools.

Global Peers, Global Network

There is no global classroom equivalent to the OneMBA

classroom. The OneMBA class is composed of

executives living around the world, from top positions

in companies across multiple industries. Students

work in OneMBA global teams to complete major

global projects, maximizing their experience of

networking and teamwork. With Global Residencies

held in the United States, Europe, Latin America and

Asia, participants gain a network of global contacts

that last a lifetime.

Flexibility for Executives Agendas

The OneMBA program is presented in a modular

format specifically designed for senior executives. Over

21 months, participants attend four week-long global

residencies. Executives attend their home university for

the global and local courses, which are held regularly

at set intervals. Further group work takes place through

virtual communication. This design allows participants

greater flexibility in managing their work agendas.

Globally Relevant Curriculum

The OneMBA curriculum is the only MBA curriculum

designed with equal input from the top faculty of the five

partner schools. This curriculum has been designed to

incorporate the best business practices and diverse

issues pertinent to doing business in each world region.

During the global residencies, participants are taught by

local faculty and visit local companies. In this way,

participants not only learn global business: they

experience it.

The First Truly Global MBA

OneMBA uniquely qualifies executives for successin the emerging global economy.

Four global residencies are completed during the

OneMBA program, beginning with the initial residency

in the United States and followed by residencies in

Europe, Latin America, and Asia. Unlike the usual study

trips offered by other programs. In the OneMBA global

residencies, participants from all five partner schools are

in attendance, providing a truly unique cross-cultural

learning experience.

During the first three residencies, participants meet and

get to know their global teammates, with whom they will

work on projects assigned in the OneMBA global courses:

Leading and Managing the Global Organization, Global

Operations, Global Finance, Global Marketing, and Global

Strategy. In addition to the unique opportunity to work

with their peers – accomplished executives from around

the world – the residencies offer an ideal environ ment for

connecting with an international network of ambitious

and impassioned senior managers who currently hold, or

are entering, leadership positions.

OneMBA global residencies offer unparalleled

opportunities to learn from renowned academics,

executives, policy makers and analysts, and from your

OneMBA classmates based in each location. You will

study local business practices with visits to both local

and multi national companies. This deepens your

understanding of international business, and the ways in

which managers operate and succeed around the world.

Cultural and social events provide first-hand insights into

how the practice of business is influenced by history and

culture in each region.

Residencies are continually updated and refined to

expose OneMBA participants to cutting-edge

developments in the world’s most dynamic business

contexts and markets. Prior residencies have been

structured as follows:

USA

OneMBA begins with the Opening Week in the United

States, where participants are immersed in a framework

for analyzing the structure of the global economy and the

challenges and opportunities that globalization offers.

The differences between developed versus developing

economies are examined, as are the challenges of

remaining competitive in the 21st Century global economy

and beyond. The role the United States has played in the

global economy is evaluated, and current imbalances

facing the world’s largest economy are considered. In

past US residencies, senior executives from companies

such as The Coca-Cola Company, AOL, BB&T

Corporation, and Syngenta have shared the challenges

and opportunities faced in sustainable globalization.

EUROPE

The European residency provides a first-hand opportunity

to explore the challenges and opportunities of doing

business within developed and developing economies in

Europe. The challenges posed by regional political and

economic integration are examined, and the European

approach to business is studied. Prior classes have

traveled to developed economies such as the Netherlands,

and to the developing economies of countries like Poland

and Turkey; to keep these visits fresh and up to the

minute, vital new business regions in Eastern Europe and

the Near East are continually sought out. Past residencies

have afforded opportunities for face-to-face exchanges

with senior executives from companies such as Shell,

Heineken, TNT, Novartis Pharma and Greenpeace.

LATIN AMERICA

The Latin American Residency provides a dynamic and

unique opportunity for participants to gain first-hand

exposure to two important developing regional economies:

Brazil and Mexico. Regionally relevant geo-political

issues, such as the contrast between Latin and South

America, and how the history of the region has impacted

business and society in both Mexico and Brazil, are

considered. Leading senior executives from ALPARGATAS

in Brazil and CEMEX in Mexico have addressed past

residencies, and companies visited included Natura in

Brazil and Whirlpool in Mexico.

ASIA

The OneMBA program concludes with an unforgettable

exposure and insight into the world’s fastest growing and

most dynamic developing economies. In recent years,

participants have traveled to China and India where the

business models and contexts necessary to build a national

A. Globally Coordinated Courses

Five core courses, designed collaboratively by faculty

members from each of the partner universities, form the

foundation of the OneMBA program. Participants in

each of the five partner schools attend the courses

concurrently at their home university and use a syllabus

of which the global course content is common.

Participants use distance learning technology to work

on major global team projects with team members

from the partner universities. Class time is focused on

interacting with faculty and other executives to share,

interpret and apply new knowledge.

The core courses incorporate best practices and

perspectives from all four continents. Subjects cover

global leadership, operations, marketing, finance and

strategy, and integrate international perspectives from

the four different regions.

Leading and Managing Global Organizations

Managers with effective communication and leadership

skills across cultural differences hold a key competitive

advantage. This course develops leadership and

managerial skills in a global, diverse environment.

The course challenges participants to reflect on the

impact of culture on personal and organizational

effectiveness.

Global Operations Management

This course focuses on aligning the operations strategy

with the overall business strategy, with an emphasis on

process analysis and supply chain management.

Participants are acquainted with the concepts and

techniques related to designing, planning, driving,

and monitoring service and manufacturing operations

in a global economy.

Global Marketing Management

Effective and successful global marketing balances

global integrated strategies with defined local needs.

This course focuses on understanding competitive

rationality, advantage and complexities in relation to global

marketing communication decisions. Participants analyze

multinational organizations and their aim to create long-

term customer satisfaction across a global market.

Corporate Finance in a Global Environment

Maximizing corporate value in a global environment

requires a clear framework integrated with a range of

international financial concepts. In this course,

participants cover these key elements and develop an

understanding of the interaction of financial policy with

corporate strategy. They develop the ‘financial mindset’

to analyze, plan and make real-world financial decisions

in the context of regional and global team projects.

Strategy in a Global Arena

A key challenge in developing a global business

strategy is being able to effectively align an organization’s

resources with its long-term goals, while considering

converging global forces and local variations.

This course uses global teams to facilitate discussions

and analysis of the strategic challenges and choices faced

by firms in the global environment.

Participants learn to identify, assess and critically evaluate

the strategic behavior of multinational businesses.

B. Regional Courses

One third of the curriculum is built on courses designed

to prepare participants for the business issues and

challenges pertinent to their particular region. Each of

the partner universities selects courses that have proven

valuable success in that region.

Local Classes*

economy are compared and contrasted. Within the current

rebalancing of the global economy and the shift from West

to East, this final residency provides the perfect backdrop

against which to consider the future of global business.

Participants in this residency have enjoyed addresses by

senior executives from major multinationals, as well as a

visit to Jetta Industries in China.

Corporate Return

Participants of the OneMBA can immediately apply the

new skills, knowledge and perspectives gained during

the program in their jobs.

Fellow students, faculty and corporate contacts provide

a network of resources of immediate value for current

company issues or challenges. Multinational corporations

that send a team of executives from around the world

qualify as OneMBA Corporate Partners and can request

that one of the teams consist of their employees.

As a substitute for one of the global team assignments,

this team can address a critical international issue facing

the company and help develop a strong in-company

global team.

6

Global Teamwork

OneMBA participants work as part of both a local team

and as a series of three different global teams. Each

global course involves the completion of an assignment,

requiring team members to integrate local projects from

each of the regions into global perspectives. This entails

managing cultural differences and logistical issues

resulting from working across multiple time zones –

a process that mirrors real-world business relations.

Participants are executives living and working around the

world, who bring a rich diversity of cultures, expectations

and experiences to the program. This creates a unique

and effective environment for developing a global

mindset, as well as cross-cultural leadership skills.

To maximize the experience of networking and global

teamwork, the global teams are reorganized during the

Global Residencies.

For those considering participating in the OneMBA, gaining their company’s support is

vital. Participants are away from work while attending classes and residencies. However,

companies receive immediate benefits from their employee’s renewed focus, knowledge

and networks. Full or partial corporate financial support is recommended, but not required.

Corporate Perspective

For the OneMBA, companies usually consider:

- Mid- to senior-level managers

- Employees with strong potential to advance into senior executive roles

- Employees whose career path reflects increasing responsibilities that require

OneMBA skills and knowledge

Employee Perspective

Employees considering the OneMBA program must be highly motivated to increase

their corporate value. Preparing a formal request for sponsorship will increase the chance of

gaining corporate support. See www.OneMBA.org for examples of personalized requests for

your home region.

Self-sponsored Perspective

Professionals may sponsor themselves. They should consider the time required and how

participation will affect their company.

POWERFUL GLOBAL COMMUNITY

When you join the OneMBA program, you become a lifelong member of the global OneMBA community.

This community offers an invaluable resource for you and your company, both during the program, and after

graduation. Many participants claim the network of international contacts they build is as important for their

career as the knowledge they gain through the curriculum.

The OneMBA network represents business professionals that include:

1. Executive OneMBA students from five partner schools

The worldwide OneMBA class is made up of approximately 100 executive participants living and working around

the globe. The typical OneMBA participant is 38 years old and has 13 years of professional work experience.

OneMBA students come from a wide range of companies and industries.

2. Executive Alumni

After graduation, the OneMBA participants join the OneMBA alumni community, repesented by the Alumni Board.

Current students and alumni remain in contact through the Alumni LinkedIn Community, a password-protected

network that is a continuously expanding resource for executives and their companies as they manage, source, sell

and compete around the globe. Today, more than 80 percent of OneMBA alumni are part of the LinkedIn network.

3. Faculty and Corporate Contacts

Key faculty members from the partner schools lead all global residencies and courses. These faculty members

design and teach the globally coordinated core courses. Each partner school has its own extensive connections

with the corporate world.

THE ONEMBA DIFFERENCE“I was initially attracted to OneMBA’s focus on globalization and training globalexecutive leaders. But beyond that, OneMBA also emphasizes corporate socialresponsibility. During the European residency, we studied the benefits andchallenges of corporate sustainability practices. In Latin America, we saw first-handhow organizations were working to create a stronger local economy by improvingthe welfare of the poor. I don’t think you would find this emphasis in a typicalMBA program. That’s what impressed me most about OneMBA.”Fanny Ching OneMBA Class of 2007, CUHK
