COLLEEN GAWLASPROGRAM DIRECTOR

MOM’S HOUSE

“Being a leader in a non-profit has a unique

set of challenges. Non-profit leaders must be

able to effectively interact with funders, staff,

donors, volunteers and clients. I am looking

forward to learning more about mt personal

leadership style and how it can be most

effectively used in the non-profit setting. I am

excited to learn ways to become a stronger

leader by sharing my viewpoints and challenges with other non-profit leaders.”

Erica

KlinedinstExecutive Director

Activate Phoenixville Area

“Within the past year I became an

Executive Director and I am seeking

to further develop my leadership skills.

I have never help an official

leadership title in a job and I have yet

to learn specifically about nonprofit

leadership. I hope that ELI will not only

increase my knowledge, but also

confidence in my ability to lead. I look

forward to growing my professional network through ELI.”

“ Effective leadership in a non-profit

organization also creates an environment that

allows staff to develop professionally while

working compatibly to complete the

program's responsibilities. I have recently

assumed new duties which have given me

the opportunity to learn and provide fresh

enthusiasm to mt profession. I have made a

career commitment to the social service

filed, which gives me the desire to

continue my education and seek additional training.”

Kristen McGeeExecutive Director

Ann’s Heart

“ I have found that while I have

been a successful manager within

a large corporation, or a team-

leader amongst my peers, I have

much to learn about the skills and

commitment it takes to become a

leader for a much smaller,

grassroots organization - as well as

for the community at large. ELI

provides an exciting opportunity to

learn about the challenges, tools

and pathways to becoming a

leader within my own organization.”

JANE MOSSDEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

PEOPLES’ LIGHT & THEATRE

“My perspective on leadership comes

from an artistically-driven viewpoint,

but with a pragmatic layer on top.

Leadership in our non-profit arts world

is about balancing artistic impulse,

audience/community needs, and

financial realities. All of my training has

been on-the-job, so the opportunity to

take a step back and contemplate

how I can improve in an educational

setting would be a true gift. The time feels right to build skills.”

MELISSA SHANAMANDIRECTOR

STEPPING STONE EDUCATION CENTER

“As an individual who operates a

non-profit child care center I believe

the leadership aspect is a valuable

and fulfilling experience. I would like

to participate in ELI because I think it

would be a rewarding experience.

Furthering my knowledge and

experience in leadership can provide

me with the skillsets needed to

benefit my staff, families, and children that I work with daily.”

BRIAN SIMARD

DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT

THE COMMUNITY COALITION

“The timing for me to participate in ELI couldn't be better. I am new in my position. At this point in my career I am extremely intent on making a long-term investment and impact on this organization and the many missions we serve. For me, leadership is what you communicate in both words and actions to people who know you and to people who don't know you.”

ERIN SLIGHT

DIRECT SERVICES SUPERVISOR

VICTIM SERVICES CENTER OF

MONTGOMERY COUNTY

“I believe leadership is creating a work space that is safe and instills integrity in its staff. I am hopeful that attending this institute will help me become a better equipped leader on both the micro and macro levels. I am excited to learn about the different facets of leadership and models that I am completely unfamiliar with. And, I am eager to further explore and develop my own leadership style.”

Participation in this institute, I feel is the next stage of my development as a leader. I take no lesson I have learned for granted and the courses within ELI, will further my role in the community. I am excited to learn new ways I can grow into my own leadership style and to further develop my natural ability to lead.
