“Business  Performance  is  Human  Performance”

Destabilized, hyper-competitive markets and increased stress are requiring organizational leaders to utilize out-of-the-box thinking to engage their workforce, improve resilience and

raise performance levels in order to achieve organizational objectives.

1

In the January 2013 issue of the Aberdeen Group’s ‘Human Capital Management (HCM) Trends’, a research article highlights how today’s uncertain global economy is forcing organizations to make leaner and smarter talent management decisions. For example, in order to improve levels of performance, organizations must now focus on training and developing a more agile, adaptable and learnable organization to effectively respond to and take advantage of rapidly shifting market demands. To achieve this, the report says, executives and other employees must be prepared to move outside of their comfort zone to explore new and innovative methods, as individuals and groups of individuals. Simultaneously, firms must efficiently utilize existing talent within the organization, further increasing performance demands. Given these demands and constraints, HCM is rapidly evolving from a back-office support function into a critical component of organizational strategy for growth, performance and profitability. The strategic challenge for leaders and managers is to develop innovative methods across talent acquisition, retention,

decisions,  in  particular  around  talent  management.”

development, deployment and engagement.

Meanwhile increases in stress and change have ‘inspired’ new levels of employee disengagement, absenteeism, burnout, and turnover, impacting organization culture and performance. The challenge is for organizations to find ways to successfully bridge this ever-growing gap between employer requirements and employee needs.

Finding  Resilience

1

Resilience has been the buzz in business for years, and with good reason. Performing through the adversity and change organizations must confront on a continual basis today requires resilience; not only at an individual level, within the culture and make-up of the organization itself. What resilience is, where it comes from and how to generate it have been the topics of much research. From the many studies, we can summarize that at a psychological level, being resilient can be attributed to three traits: 1) Acceptance of reality, 2) Purposefulness and 3) Resourcefulness. At a neurological level, these three factors are dependent upon the effective functioning of the brain and the underlying neurochemical and biological health that support it. In short, resilience can be developed and learned, but it requires an effective base of healthy body-brain biology that few professionals enable themselves with. Engaging both the mental and physical dimensions of resilience provides the right impetus for the development of the requisite neural pathways.

2

Through our body-brain work, we engage executives and organizations to develop new capacities for resilience, creating greater levels of energy, teamwork and confidence. We are offering a free introductory seminar addressing how to develop greater levels of resilience. This 30 minute program will provide useful takeaways and concrete steps to your staff and concepts to consider as an organization. Please contact us today to discuss how this workshop might benefit your staff and organization.

“More  than  education,  more  than  experience,  more  than  training,  a

person’s  level  of  resilience  will  determine  who

succeeds  and  who  fails.”

We humans all have a body and brain that work seamlessly together. To expect change in one, we must make a change in the other.

Our body-brain coaching methodology is truly unique in the world of executive coaching and we, like many of our clients, believe it is the first step in a new evolutionary direction of human performance. We strive to be at the forefront of the science of human performance, utilizing our experience across international business, coaching, human physiology and neuroscience to support our clients in achieving their performance objectives.

We draw from various distinct and complementary sources in our work with clients. The first is from years of experience in international business, working with top companies in law, finance and human resources. We understand the stress of managing one's self as well as others in the face of deadlines, bottom lines and uncertain lines, so we coach our

clients to insights and solutions at a time when they can be most difficult to come by.

The second source is our education, training and experience in the effect on the human body and brain from the intense stress in today’s business climate. We combine our years of personal experience in the business environment with an extensive understanding of cutting-edge medicine, neuroscience, and sports training to coach executives to counter some of the debilitating and insidious effects stress can have.

Client  Testimonials:    “Probably the best corporate/personal leadership training workshop that I have attended anywhere in the last twenty years! The messages around maintaining a healthy work-life balance, good nutrition, rest and regular exercise, all leading to an improvement in performance, individually and as a team, have been life changing to the participants. We started the training with a small group of Finance executives and their enthusiasm from the workshop is spreading throughout the organization...a great way to bring about change. Real, positive, productive change!”

Colin Sampson, Senior Vice President & CFO, SAP Asia Pacific

High performing individuals and organizations recognize that being at their best means something other than holding a myopic focus on meeting the immediate task at hand. They recognize that their peak performance requires developing and maintaining greater levels of energy, awareness, focus, resilience and creative capacities.

Our clients are seeking to improve their performance the right way and we work with them to deliver those results with lasting and expansive impact. But it goes beyond performance at work. Many are transformed, finding new sources of energy and levels of confidence, improving health and even reversing debilitating diseases. In short, our clients benefit beyond just work productivity, and that is what makes our work both effective in the long-term and rewarding.

“The Body-Brain Performance Coaching Team drove home the connection between a healthy mind and a healthy body to the participants of our regional leadership conference. As a company, we strive to balance performance at work with the health of our employees to ensure they go hand-in-hand. Body-Brain Performance Coaching integrated workouts (yoga, meditation and a fitness module) into the conference and reinforced these with theory on the link between leadership performance and fitness. Participants received not only a physical boost, but also simple yet practical tips on what they can do to help alleviate stress, increase mental well-being and perform more effectively in their leadership roles.”

Michael Braun, General Manager, Corporate Communications AAP, Daimler Financial Services Africa & Asia Pacific
