Extracting Views
As in a real life situation you will start thisdrawing from a 3D unprepared model. Thismeans that you will:
Modify the screen definition,
Select the working convention,
Create a front view, Create a right view,
Create a section cut,
Create a detail view
Create a breakout in the detail view.
Modify the Screen Definition
Since your starting model is notprepared, you will have to modify thescreen to split it into two windows:one for the Space model and one forthe cartridge. Define the screenselecting the elements shown belowin the prescribed order:

Creating Section View A/A
There are two ways of creating a sectionview or section cut:
If you want to create an associativesection, start with a selection. This is
what we are going to do now.
If you want to create a non-associativesection, start with an indication. This is
what we are going to do in the next part.

Dimensioning Distances
You may create dimensions in a drawing inany order. Views are automatically madeactive when an element of the view isselected.
Dimensions can be created one by one, inchain or stacked. These three options,
which are identified by different icons, willbe illustrated here. When you select an icon, check that it does correspond to the type ofdimension you wish to create.

Modify an angular dimension,
Modify a diametric dimension line,
Align a distance dimension.
Modify an Angular Dimensionin a View
First you are going to modify theposit ion of the 30 degree angle
dimension in the Right View.
DIMENS2
MODIFY + DIM LINE
The position of the dimension ismodified.

Modifying DimensionLocation
In this part of the exercise you will:
Move distance dimensions, Move an angular dimension.
Move a Distance Dimension
You wi l l now move the 15mmdistance dimension value in Section
AA.
DIMENS2
MODIFY + VALUE + LOCATION
You have moved the dimension value.Repeat the operation for the 22.5mmdimension in Section AA. You canpress the YES: RESTORE key at anytime to restore the initial location ofthe selected value.

You have moved the dimension value.
Indicating FakeDimensions
In this part of the exercise you will learn to
indicate not-to-scale (fake) dimensions.

Indicate a Not-to-ScaleDimension
Now you will define a fake valuebased on the 11.8mm value in
Section AA.
DIMENS2
MODIFY + VALUE + FAKE DIM
The fake dimension is created.
Warning! Be carefulwhen you usefake dimensions: subsequent users of
your model wi l l ignore thed imens ions and on ly use thegeometry. This might cause errors inmanufacturing, assembly, simulationor FE analysis.
Breaking Extension Lines
In this part of the exercise you will learn to:
Indicate break points,
Define the gap size, Break all extension lines.

Indicate the Break Points
Before starting note that if you selectthe d imension va lue i tse l f , a l lassociated lines will be broken, but if
you select an extension line, only theselected line will be broken. Nowselect any one of the extension linesassociated with distance dimension15 in Section AA and indicate two
break points.
DIMENS2
MODIFY + EXT LINE + INTERRUP
The l ine is broken. Repeat theoperation for distance dimensionsystem 22.5, diametric dime
