In further recognition of Virginia Exceptional Children’s Week and to promote public awareness, the SEAC committee will be sending you a daily email profiling a specific disability. Please take the time to read over the disability profile, teacher tips, and resource information. Also feel free to share the information with others. Thank you for your support and as you wear your pin, know that you are making a difference…. Sincerely, King George County Special Education Advisory Committee(SEAC)

Dear Teachers and Administrative Staff,

Through the efforts of Senator Edward Houck, 17th Senatorial

District, the Virginia General Assembly declared the third week in

February every year as Exceptional Children’s Week. It is a week

dedicated to public awareness of the needs and capabilities of our

exceptional children, both those with disabilities and those with

giftedness and special talents. The Virginia Council for Exceptional

Children (CEC) sponsors the event.

Each local school division is encouraged to make recognition of the

the week through publicity or special events. The King George

County Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) has provided

you with a puzzle pin, the national symbol for Autism, and ask that

you wear it the entire week in recognition and support of exceptional

children (specifically children with disabilities).

The puzzle symbolizes the many faces of autism. Each piece of a puzzle is made

into a pin and represents the different pieces of the puzzle that make up the

mystery, complexity and wide spectrum of autism and the many individuals

affected by this disability.

In further recognition of Virginia Exceptional Children’s Week and

to promote public awareness, the SEAC committee will be sending

you a daily email profiling a specific disability. Please take the time to

read over the disability profile, teacher tips, and resource information.

Also feel free to share the information with others.

Thank you for your support and as you wear your pin, know that you

are making a difference….

Sincerely,

King George County Special Education Advisory Committee(SEAC)
