Page 1: Excellence in Experiential Education Peer Group - Brochure

The Wallace McCain Institute at University of New Brunswick’s philosophy is to enhance entrepreneurship in the province of New Brunswick and the surrounding region. To ensure our entrepreneurs are successful, they need a strong workforce. To better equip our youth, E3 believes we need to focus on better equipping our educators. Experiential learning engages youth in learning through personally-relevant contexts, and involves active participation, community involvement and ownership. In this context, educators are leaders who are facilitating rigorous and meaningful experiential learning. E3’s mission is to develop a resilient network of NB educators who lead experiential, entrepreneurial learning in their schools and communities. E3 fosters better communication among this small group of educators so that they can work together to face common challenges and share ideas to grow this method of teaching and learning within a traditional model.

Excellence in Experiential Education Peer Group

Pioneering a movement in public education where experiential learning develops empowered citizens

Who are we looking for? Participants in the E3 program are teachers within New Brunswick dedicated to the growth of experiential learning within the public system. They face hurdles at their schools, districts and provincially, as they implement experiential learning that is project-management based. The 2014/2015 cohort will be targeted to middle/high school educators. Sessions involve peer coaching, goal setting, invited speakers and internal discussion. Each session is targeted to the needs of the individuals in the cohort. Although sessions are run primarily in English, we strongly encourage both Anglophone and Francophone educators to apply.

Common Challenges for Discussion

• Meeting curriculum demands • Managing student team dynamics • Engaging community, DEC, parents, peers • Change management • Removing roadblocks, dealing with red tape • Project continuity

Cohort Feedback “E3 has been, without a doubt, the most empowering professional development opportunity of my teaching career thus far”.

- Shannon Lavigne “Cette experience permet de m’épanouir sur le plan professionnel tout en préservant l’authenticité de mes practiques pédegogiques et en demeurant integré envers les autres”.

- Monique Poirier
