The DataAdd 5 columns to data, to calculate chart values
Base• Base series is hidden in the
completed chart. • Creates starting point for Up
and Down bars
Base Formulas:• B2: =“ “• B4: =SUM(B3,E3:F3)-D4• Copy B4 formula down to B15• B17: = “ “
Start• Starting value• First visible bar in the chart
Start Formula:• F3: =G3
End• Last visible bar in the chart
End Formula:• C16: =SUM(B15,E15:F15)-
D16
Down• Negative numbers in
monthly values
Down Formula:• D4: = - MIN(G4,0)• Copy formula down to
D15
Up• Positive numbers in
monthly values
Down Formula:• E4: = MAX(G4,0)• Copy formula down to
E15
Select Chart DataSelect Headings and Data A1:F17 – not the last column
Insert the ChartInsert Column Chart -- Stacked Column
Format Base Series• Click on column in
Base Series• Format with no
border, no fill
Format Down Series• Click on column in
Down Series• Format with Red fill
Format Up Series• Click on column in Up
Series• Format with Green fill
Format Start and End• Click on Start column• Format with Grey fill
• Click on End column• Format with Grey fill
Reduce the Gap• Right-click on any column• Click Format Data
Series
• Reduce Gap to 10%
Remove the Legend• On Ribbon’s Layout tab,
click Legend, None
