  • prepared using only vegetable oils, cooked at low temperature or steamed. Pasta, bread, dessert and ice cream are hand-made from scratch every day.

Next stop: The Moravola Tower, a 12th Century retreat poised on a Perugian hilltop.

The watchtower is the jewel in the crown of the regions boutique hotels but its remote location, in the heart of the Carpini Valley, means wheels are crucial if one is to visit the Umbrian countryside.

Navigating the access road in the F-Type at dusk is wonderfully liberating. Everywhere you look, its bucolic and handsome rolling hills dotted with stone farmhouses, winding rivers and pretty, silvery-leafed olive trees.

Picturesque Montone village is a ten-minute drive away and the F-Type is perfect for negotiating the unpredictable twists and turns of the Italian landscape.

Jaguar has pulled out all the stops for this car. It has a light but very rigid aluminium chassis and the stiffer the chassis, the more accurately the engineers can fine-tune the suspension and steering. The wheels are attached by double wishbones all round to maximise grip during hard cornering.

Against the perfectly tranquil backdrop, the F-Type sounds fruity. Valves open under load from 3,000rpm which allows the exhaust note to build to a thrilling crescendo against the backdrop of countryside tranquillity.

Once inside the Tower, it really is another world; there are no telephone lines or internet connection and service is informal but professional. While the exterior may be a thousand years old, the interiors are as modern as they come. It may have a little something to do with the owners. Christopher Chong is an architect, a former Norman Foster associate, and his wife, Seonaid Mackenzie, is a designer. Everywhere you look there are innovative and contemporary touches. There are glass balconies and floating metal staircases and the suites, with their stone walls and sunken baths, are remarkably comfortable.

After a day relaxing by the infinity pool and watching fireflies at night, I head to the restaurant. The food is an experience in itself. Ingredients are garnered from a huge vegetable garden and the meat is organic. Menus are reinterpreted Italian and Umbrian dishes, but the quality is extremely high.

If youre lucky, at the end of October and in November, its truffle season and people come from all over the World to experience the festivities.

JAGUAR RELEASED IN thE tRANQUIL wILDS of UMBRIABeauty, poise and balance enchanted by the Italian countryside and thrilled by the F-Type, Em Maga discovers glorious Umbria in the new Jaguar

with its slick traditional beauty, the new F-Type Jaguar is keen to explore the equally ravishing region of Umbria with a 48 hour

stay in its medieval hills.Courtesy of Jaguar, first stop is heavenly Assisi

where monks sing, pilgrims flock and miracles happen. Tucked away in its spiritual hills is the Nun Relais, a five-star retreat that came about from the careful restoration of the ancient monastery of Saint Catherine.

Originally constructed in 1275 for a community of nuns wellness, the luxury hotel is housed in a former Benedictine convent in the heart of the old town.

After a two-hour flight to Rome, we are helicoptered in to Assisi as magnificent views of Rocca Maggiore and Minore come in to focus. Then, sun blazing, hoverflies buzzing, its an 8km ride in the soft top F-Type to the seemingly austere stone resort. Inside soft colours create an intimate and relaxing atmosphere. The spa centre exudes the aura of a museum that allows guests to bask in its arcane beauty while indulging in a range of health treatments.

Wellness experts will customise spa treatments, or guests can simply relax and admire the six majestic 1st century AD pillars as they have a hydro-massage in the pool.

Quiet and minimalistic suites with majestic views add to the feeling of well-being while the Nun restaurant is sure to please even the most discerning palate. Exquisite dishes made by the chef tell this part of the history of Umbria; all

Style is everything to Brunello Cucinelli whose cashmere sweaters are worn by Prince William and James Bond star Daniel Craig. The Italian designer, who produces coloured cashmere for both men and women, is a true fashion icon, whose personal preference is rooted in precision fit, mixing sporty with casual. His sweaters can cost up to 1,800 but Brunello, 58, insists you cant put a price tag on appearance.

A stickler for tradition, the designer has driven the same white Jaguar for 25 years, even though his factory is minutes down the road from his home in Solomeo, Umbria. Indeed his factory is practically the entire town of Solomeo, which he prides himself on restoring.

I am its custodian, he says. Without me there is no Solomeo as we know it today. What is the point of working if you cannot give anything back? It all started when Brunello Cucinelli was 15, and saw his father cry when he was forced to leave his life as a farmer to work in a cement-making factory. He resolved that whatever he would do with his life, it would be an attempt to make work more humane.

So in 1985, Cucinelli bought a run-down 14th-century castle in Solomeo, which was the hometown of his fiance. After some restoration, he moved his company into the castle in 1987. The place would be where workers could make the worlds best menswear in the most ideal of conditions.

Sustainability and regeneration is at the heart of Brunellos business. Everyone is made to feel they contribute to the enterprise. Employees work in beautiful rooms filled with sunlight. Theyre surrounded by dark woods, arches, and spools of cashmere. When they need to relax, they can do so in the companys 230-seat theatre, olive orchard garden, outside amphitheatre, or sports complex. No one watches how long the other takes for lunch. Its all built on trust. His workers are just as important as profit, he says.

WHEN BRITISH STYLE MET ITALIAN FASHION

Brunellos quirky world of cashmere manufacturing is not too far removed from Jaguars. Like the F-Type two-seater, his jumpers are classy yet comfortable while appealing to a modern clientele. And while he sees himself as something of a patriarch, investing in the factory town and employing close to 600 people, more than its 400 inhabitants, Jaguar has taken a more holistic approach to its latest sports car.

The F-Type emits 80 per cent less CO2, thanks to the way the body structure is bonded. There is also a stop/start system that brings the engine to a halt when the car stops, which saves fuel.

And more than half the content of the car comes from recycled metal. Jaguar is also rolling out its closed-loop recycling system to its suppliers, ensuring all off cuts of

metal from the manufacturing process are reused. From the base F-Type, which boasts of 380-horsepower to the 495-horsepower, F-Type is regarded as a unique innovation among it peers.

Taking inspiration from cockpits of fighter airplanes, Jaguars F-Type controls are ergonomically grouped by function while further aeronautical inspiration can be found in the joystick-shaped SportShift selector controlling the eight-speed transmission.

Global brand director, Adrian Hallmark, who spoke during the unveiling of the new product at the Paris Motor show said: Jaguar is a founding member of the sports car segment with a rich sporting bloodline stretching over 75 years, and in the F-Type weve reignited that flame. He added: The F-Type isnt designed to be like anyone elses sports car. Its a Jaguar sports car ultra-precise, powerful, sensual and, most of all, it feels alive and its environmentally-friendly. It has a long life and sustainable designs. >

    Style

It is here, in this medieval village... that a new concept of work and the desire to live in joyful harmony with nature are developing.

She is one of the hottest female Olympians of 2012 who is as fierce about guarding her privacy as she about winning.

But Jaguar has convinced fencing legend Valentina Vezzali to let down her guard and grant a rare interview at the launch of the beautiful, stylish F-Type.

The 38 year-old Italian legend is as close to a superstar as fencing can boast and here the petite beauty opens up about fencing, family life and why she thinks the F-Type is as sharp as she is.

Speaking candidly about the F-Type Valentina - hailed among Italian women for her ravishing beauty as well as her craft said: Both of us glide elegantly between grace and explosive (the F-Type can reach 0-62mph in 4.9 seconds and hit a top speed of 171mph), we both boast slick bodies with perfect curves, and can both hold sharp edges.

The first fencer to have won five Olympic golds in the Foil event, Valentina has collected 13 World Championship golds and nine at European level. This year she showed she was on top fighting form when she won her sixth Olympic gold medal in the womens team foil final, retaining Italys prominence in sporting ballet.

Now its time to slow down and think about the family, she said: Id like a little brother or sister for our Pietro. Like the makers of the F-Type, Valentina is nothing if not determined. Seven years ago, she returned to the sport just four months after son Pietro was born to retain her world title.

Jaguar is driven, too, in its bid to captivate the sports car market with its new model. And while the respective worlds of sports cars and fencing are small, both Valentina and Jaguar will concede they have both certainly captured hearts.

FOCUS ON DESIGN AND INNOVATION: THE JAGUAR F-TypE AND THE mARITImE GARDENS, COpENHAGEN

During a recent trip to Denmark to celebrate the launch of the exciting

new F-Type from Jaguar, I was amazed to see and hear about a brand

new project happening in the very heart of Copenhagen.

Design-lead architecture, miles of cycle routes and green spaces have always

made the Danish capital a hotspot for green travellers and now its very own

maritime kitchen garden will broaden the appeal even further. Based on a

cutting-edge project in New york, where the deeply polluted Gowanus Canal

has been under siege for years, the Danish maritime Garden project will

combine sustainability and stunning design much like Jaguars new F-Type

    sports car.

The vision is for the areas finest fishermen to cultivate and harvest their own

oysters, mussels, seaweed and mullet from a unique pontoon, built specifically

for the garden and using the very latest maritime and architectural techniques.

Just like the engineers of the long-awaited F-Type Jag who have been credited

with reaching the pinnacle of innovative and seductive performance whilst still

taking into account sustainability, fuel efficiency and the very best forward

thinking technologies, the Danish project team are considering a wide range of

socio-economic and environmental issues. The maritime gardens promise to

open up opportunities for employment and regeneration of the port area whilst

environmental engineers have already had great successes using sealife to

clean the polluted waters of the harbour. Danish architects are currently building

artificial oyster beds in the harbour and the results are already promising.

The next step is a full functional floating test station, where selected species

will live in submarine environments and on-going tests will ensure quality and

food safety live up to excellent standards. projects managers have released

scant information about the maritime garden but our interview granted us an

exclusive insight into the aims and technologies of the project. Oysters can

filter and purify up to 15 litres of water per hour, improving water quality of the

harbour. said project Supervisor Rikke Zangenberg, And its true to say the

concept of freshness will take on a whole new meaning when there are only a

few meters between the place where the oyster is harvested and eaten. The

stunning plans include a floating seafood bar built on a pontoon bridge which

will become the new meeting place for oyster lovers and those with a taste for

    locally-produced seafood.

Behind the project is Blue Fields, a cooperation between the conceptual agency

Konvers and architects Effekt. A spokesman for Blue Fiends said: This is as

exciting as it gets in the world of seafood, but we are only here because were

not afraid of experimenting and striving for the very best, sustainable future.

And having seen and driven the F-Type, it seems thats another thing the Jaguar

engineers and the maritime Gardens have in common.

Feeding Jaguars new kitten insects at the Food LabInnovation and great taste! Em Maga takes Jaguars innovative new F-Type on the road to discover great food in Copenhagen the home of the worlds best restaurant and the cutting edge Nordic Food Lab.

Perae Doluptate Published 14th October 2012

    Recommend (100) Comment (25) Print

At the Nordic Food Lab, innovative chefs are researching insects.Experts at the Copenhagen-based organisation experiment with under-utilised raw ingredients bee larvae is a substitute to eggs, meatballs and burgers are made from ground-up insects and fish sauce from fermented grasshoppers. Ive been invited to learn more about insects as a food source. Not in a survivalist, Bear Grylls kind of way, but as a serious ingredient in modern gastronomy.

The Nordic Food Lab is situated on a large houseboat that floats just a few hundred feet from Noma, the revered restaurant of Ren Redzepi. It was Redzepi who established the Nordic Food Lab back in 2008 with his business partner Claus Meyer, though the lab is a completely separate to the restaurant.

The first ingredient Im to be introduced to is bee larvae, small pale-yellow grub looking things. Im instructed to pop one into my mouth and to let it melt on my tongue; my instinct to swallow in one denied. It has a buttery texture and carries a light honey flavour. We can use bee larvae as a substitute for eggs in some well accepted recipes, explains the chef as he knocks up a simple mayonnaise from the bee larvae and some rapeseed oil. It looks and tastes just like mayonnaise, but with slightly earthier, more satisfying flavour.

Next I am shown a pot of insects that are still very much alive. I coaxed one of the small black ants on to my finger and after a slight pause, threw the little fella into my mouth. A powerful citrus flavour was emitted instantly, delivering an impressive amount of acidity for such a tiny little creature. I asked to try some more and, eight ants later, the pot had to be put away out of my reach. Call this brave, call this crazy, but insects provide one of the most promising ways forward in developing more sustainable and diverse modes of food production, says innovative chef Ren Redzepi, owner of Food Lab and revered restaurant, Noma.

In the world of luxury cars, Rene can be compared to genius Ian Callum who engineered the F-Type Jaguar. Aluminium forms a great part of Jaguars commitment to sustainability with more than half the content of the car coming from recycled metal. In addition, the F-Types structure is exclusively riveted and bonded this manufacturing process emits up to 80 per cent less CO2 compared to that from welding a comparable steel structure. Jaguar is also rolling out its closed-loop recycling system to suppliers, ensuring off-cuts of metal from the manufacturing process are reused.

The School considers the Placement year and the year Abroad as an essential, valuable and important element of any undergraduate programme.

cOmpUlSORy plAcEmENT yEARThe third year of study the Year Abroad is a compulsory and integral part of the degree programme for students taking:

    > BSc in Modern Languages

    > BSc in English Language, European Studies, Politics, International Relations, Sociology, Public Policy & Management, Translation Studies, studied jointly with one or two of the following languages: French, german, Spanish, and where the language component is or more of the programme

    > BSc in Interdisciplinary Studies including French or german or Spanish and each student must pass it successfully in order to proceed to the final year.

Students who are native speakers of French, german or Spanish may be required to spend their placement year in an approved placement in the Uk. This will be decided by consultation with the Associate Dean, Undergraduate Programmes. The University Placements team will support these students in finding a placement.

OpTiONAl plAcEmENT yEARThe placement year is optional but STRONglY RECOMMENDED for:

    > BSc in Joint Honours programmes which do not include the study of French, german, Spanish, or where the French, german or Spanish component is not more than 1/3 of the programme

    > Students of Interdisciplinary Studies programmes with English Language, Sociology, Public Policy & Management, European Studies, International Relations or Politics without a foreign language.

The University makes a considerable investment to support a range of ways in which students can gain significant educational experience from this period. The Placements Team has a placements database of institutions and companies, but you are strongly encouraged to search for placement opportunities advertised externally. The Placements Team offers help and advice for preparing cvs and cover letters and for the search of a placement; however, you need to seek approval for the academic suitability of such placements before signing any contract with a placement provider.

    GETTING IN TOUCHWWW1.ASTON.Ac.UK/lSS/STAff-DiREcTORy/

Please check webpages for all current and up to date information.

In addition Please use the list on page 30 for details of the Subject group Heads, or the staff directory on the LSS website for a full listing of all LSS Staff.

Joint Honours without a language: English language, International Relations, Politics, European Studies, Sociology, Public Policy & ManagementStudents studying (combinations of) these subjects may choose to undertake an approved placement relevant to their programme of study with an organisation or institution located in the Uk or abroad.

There are three possible types of placement:

    > Assistantships provide an opportunity for those interested in working with young people and who may be considering a career in teaching to gain first-hand experience in a school. Selection is by application form and preliminary interviews with the Placements Manager. Applications are then forwarded via the British council in London to the authorities abroad. The deadline for applications is normally mid-november.

    > Higher education courses provide an opportunity to study a wide range of subjects either at an exchange university, or occasionally at an approved non-exchange university. If students are combining a language with another subject at Aston, they may choose to study that subject in the foreign language. Such courses also provide first-hand experience of a different education system, and an opportunity to meet and study with students from that country and

elsewhere. This option can provide the opportunity to gain a recognised additional qualification at the place of study.

The School has established ERASMUS partnerships with a number of universities in France, germany, Spain, Turkey and Finland: Angers, Barcelona (Pompeu Fabra), Ankara (Bilkent), Bordeaux (IEP), granada, Frankfurt/Oder (viadrina), Leipzig, Lille (IEP), Mainz (germersheim), Montpellier, new caledonia, Paderborn, Paris, Rennes (IEP), Sevilla (Pablo de Olavide), Tampere, Tours and valencia which means that assistance is given with arrangements for accommodation, course selection and supervision. There may also be a possibility to study at korea University in Seoul.

Selection is by application form and interview. Students are encouraged to attend information meetings during visits by colleagues from partner institutions, and to liaise with students from these universities who come to Aston to study in the School.

    > Work placements provide an opportunity to gain first-hand experience of employment and to apply relevant aspects of studies at Aston. Students of European Studies, International Relations or Politics are sometimes on placement with MEP or European organisations in Brussels or elsewhere. The nature of the placement is clearly dependent on what the individual student has to

offer and on the companys needs and you should use the services of the placements team to find out what is the most suitable placement for you.

Academic supervision is coordinated by Placement Tutors, as follows:Dr Peter Quaife for Sociology and Public Policy & Management, Dr Uwe Wunderlich for Politics, International Relations and European Studies and Dr krzysztof kredens for English.

Interdisciplinary Studies without a languageSupport for students of Interdisciplinary Studies and English Language, European Studies, International Relations, Politics, Sociology or Public Policy & Management without a language is given by the Interdisciplinary Studies placements office.

Interdisciplinary Studies with a language majorStudents taking a Language Major (80 credits) with another subject Minor (40 credits) are required to spend a compulsory placement year in the target language culture, as in section 1 above.

iNTERDiScipliNARy STUDiES WiTH A lANgUAgE miNORStudents of Interdisciplinary Studies with a language minor (40 credits french or german) may choose: Either to spend a whole year abroad see information above for placement and assessment details

Or to continue into the third/final year of their main subject programme in these cases the School strongly recommends that students do their best to complete a placement (study or work) of at least 10 weeks in the target language culture, in order to ensure that they are able to benefit from and cope with the challenge of language studies at Level 3.

WHO TO cONTAcT fOR ADvicEIn addition to the Placement Tutors above, The Heads of Academic Subject groups:

    > English Dr Sue garton (TP1) ([email protected]) or Dr Judith Baxter (TP2) ([email protected])

Timetablesyour individual timetable will be available on line through My Aston Portal (MAP).

    www.aston.ac.uk/map/

It is essential that you check this regularly for any changes to your teaching times especially during the first week of term.

It is your responsibility to check your timetable for possible clashes and to make sure that you are registered for the correct number of modules / credits for each Teaching Period for your programme.

All timetabling queries should be reported to the Timetabling Officer, Mingqing Jia (Room MB776, [email protected]). Mingqings office is located opposite the LSS Reception office on the 7th floor Main Building.

The Timetabling Officer is able to assist with timetabling queries and module registration.

Changes to Timetables > In Weeks 1 and 2 (or 14 and 15) any

change to the modules you attend must be arranged through the Timetabling Officer.

    > After Week 2 (or 15) any change must be negotiated through the Head or Heads of the Academic Subject group or groups concerned and final approval sought from the Associate Dean, Postgraduate Programmes. A form must be completed and handed into the School Reception.

    > changes of Options will not normally be permitted after the end of Week 2 or Week 15. Weeks 3 and 16 are absolute cut-offs.

Module OutlinesLecturers will provide students at the start of each module with a written outline of the learning outcomes, assessment arrangements, tutorial topics, lists of recommended reading, and the means by which feedback will be delivered this information will be posted on Blackboard.

It is your responsibility to make yourself fully familiar with the details provided for each module that you are required to study, including required reading, preparation for weekly lectures and seminars, and assessment (format, type, timing or submission dates). you should check BlackBoard regularly to ensure you are aware of all such requirements, including those which may be announced in between scheduled meetings.

Module SpecificationsThe specifications for each module are on Blackboard in the LSS Postgraduates Information folder, Handbook 2012-13 file. Hard copies can be obtained on request in the School Reception.

Programme SpecificationsThe Programme Specification for each programme is on Blackboard in the LSS Postgraduates Information folder. Hard copies can be obtained on request from the School Reception.

RegulationsThe formal requirements for postgraduate degree programmes are contained in the Universitys general Regulations which can be found at:

    www1.aston.ac.uk/registry/for-students/regulations-policies-and-procedures/

Submission DatesSubmission dates will be posted regularly on the Examinations noticeboards and in the Submissions calendar on BlackBoard

Blackboard (Virtual learning Environment)you should be aware that the use of BlackBoard to support learning will depend on the nature of the subject and the content of the particular module. For many modules, it may not be pedagogically appropriate or necessary to provide extensive additional notes or reading via BlackBoard; for others, it may be very helpful to do so.

Module And Programme Evaluations (Module Questionnaires)At the end of each module you will be asked to fill in a questionnaire. This provides both the individual lecturers, and the School as a whole, with extremely valuable information, which is part of the Universitys annual monitoring of modules and programmes.

For interim feedback a general module questionnaire is available on Blackboard, or you may contact the module convenor either in person or in writing at any time.

All feedback is taken very seriously, and enables the School to respond to student feedback and modify modules and programmes as and when appropriate.

fEEDBAcK AND cOmPlAiNTSAcademic: Where there is a problem relating to a particular module, you should always try first to resolve it with the lecturer, or person responsible for the module. If that does not produce the desired result, the matter should be referred to the Programme Director, or the Head of the Academic Subject group, or the Associate Dean, Postgraduate Programmes.

general:Matters of a more general nature should be dealt with via the subject student representative(s) on the Staff Student consultative committee (see page 33), details of whom are posted on the notice-boards.

lSS will: > Resolve problems through open and transparent

    communication.

    > Provide information on the complaints and disciplinary procedures to be followed when a formal process is required.

    > Ensure that disciplinary appeals processes are fair.

    > Make independent advice and representation available through the Students guild.

We ask you to: > Seek help and support quickly if you encounter difficulties.

    > Take advantage of advice and guidance available from your School Office and the Universitys Hub and the guilds Advice and Representation centre.

    > Familiarise yourself with processes, regulations and codes of conduct.

Individual lecturers will inform you if they plan to make additional material available via BlackBoard. All material which is essential to attendance at and participation in a seminar will be distributed in printed form; however, lecturers may also wish to indicate further useful reading by posting additional, non-essential material on BlackBoard. you can choose whether to print this out or to save to disk for future reference.

To note: to allow for necessary changes to the Handbook and to module specifications, for example, for modules taught by new members of staff, the definitive version of the Student Handbook for module information and assessment deadlines/ formats/ etc will be the version published on BlackBoard, in the LSS Postgraduates Information folder, Handbook 2012-13 file.

Programme StructureMasters and Postgraduate Diploma programmes are based on a mixture of taught modules, selected from a range made available each year for a specific programme, and, for the MA or MSc, an individually supervised dissertation. The design of each programme thus ensures co-ordination of studies while allowing freedom to specialise in particular aspects.

Each successful module, and the dissertation, earns credit towards the degree. The MA or MSc degree is awarded to students who have achieved 180 credits overall, while the Postgraduate Diploma can be awarded to those who have achieved 120 credits overall but have not completed a dissertation.

Each taught module normally earns between 10 and 40 credits.

The 15,000-word dissertation earns 60 credits. Ten credits are awarded for 100 hours of learning.

DurationFull-time programmes normally last one calendar year (12 months); part-time programmes normally last two to three years; diploma programmes last one academic year (7 months).

Scheme Of WorkTaught modules are based on a learning block of managed learning hours and private study (the total number of hours depends on the credit weighting). Teaching is by a variety of methods and is specified in each module specification.

Dissertation topics are agreed by the student and supervisor, and are based on individual research interests and experience. In terms of hours of study required and credits awarded, the 15,000-word dissertation is expected to require 600 hours. The following is hence the normal workload pattern:

Our beginners and intermediate modules follow externally recognized progression routes such as the common European Framework of Reference for Languages (UE), and Language Ladder (Uk).

    Team Award

Winner: Exams TeamThe Exams Team received numerous nominations

Their successes have included supporting a voluntary member of staff in securing a full-time position; guiding students through exams appeals; and spotting and correcting incorrect exam codes which prevented a disruptive and serious problem.

Lisa, Lynne, Sally, Claire and Natalie were named and praised individually in their nominations.

Engaging people through teaching with expertise and enthusiasmWinner: Steven ChaplinSteven was nominated by Steven Clare (Student)

Mr Chaplin has displayed enormous enthusiasm for his students. His efforts with the Bloodhound project and the Gadget Show Live are just the tip of the iceberg. He continues to devote his time in our racing project. Many things are done behind the scenes to enable this project to succeed. Personally he has helped me grow as an individual I cannot praise him enough!

    Developing People through Learning

Winner: Terrie ReynoldsTerrie was nominated by Lauren Ward (student)

Terrie has gone above and beyond for the students especially in her Mathematics Mechanics. She initially took on the group for only a forty-five minute slot because she was over hours and they did not have a maths teacher. She realised how in need they were of quality teaching and increased the tutoring to the full lesson. She has managed to get them all through one exam and has since entered several into the higher tiered paper. Not only does she make maths interesting, but she has managed to convert the attitudes of a class who previously had decided that they couldnt progress.

Playing a Positive Role in our community

Winners: Jo Davies and Bob EarlJo and Bob have been nominated for working hard to organise the Daventry Fun Day which was a great success

Jo has spent months arranging the Daventry Fun Day. It is a huge event and she used her own time to arrange stall-holders, a fun fair, marquees etc. It was a tremendous success.

Bob has been a fantastic support. His can do attitude helped us to achieve bigger and better this year. He took all the last minute changes in his stride even though these have sometimes meant an extra workload for him. His commitment to making this a special day for our community and something that they could enjoy showed through.

Bringing out the best in each other

Winner: Sally SharpSally was nominated by Susan Tucker (Additional Support)

Sally has been very kind and supportive and always has time for me and my team. She works above and beyond her job description and never complains. Sally is respected by everyone, she comes to work with a smile and goes home with a smile! The students come to see her non-stop day in, day out. She is a credit to the department, and she is our gem.
