WELCOME

WELCOME TO THE NEWPORT MANSIONS WINE & FOOD FESTIVAL.

When we created this event 9 years ago (how time flies!) it was partof an effort to introduce the Newport Mansions to new audiences. We wanted to create an event that would help people experiencethese houses as they were meant to be experienced: as backdrops forsophisticated entertainment. I’m pleased to say that we succeededeven beyond our expectations. The Newport Mansions Wine &Food Festival is now acclaimed as being among the best food andwine events in the country.

Certainly the unique location is a big part of that success. No otherwine and food festival in the country can match the spectacularbeauty of our setting in and around these beautiful historic mansions, overlooking the sea. Bringing you the best in local andnational talent has also been key. Jacques Pépin, Emeril Lagasse,Lidia Bastianich, Alex Guarnaschelli, Michel Richard and so manyother talented chefs have graced our stage over the years. And this year we are just thrilled to beable to present internationally renowned lifestyle expert Martha Stewart, who is introducing herbrand new cookbook, One Pot Meals, and television chef and author Sara Moulton!

Each year we try to make some improvements, based in part on your feedback, and this year isno exception. Our educational seminars on Saturday and Sunday are now taking place onsite, inthe Chinese Tea House at Marble House during the Grand Tastings. That makes them muchmore accessible and will allow you to spend more time enjoying the activities in the Grand Tasting tent.

Our partnership with FOOD & WINE as our Presenting Underwriter is now in its 6th year, andwe are grateful to them for their support and encouragement. We are also eternally grateful tothe many wineries, restaurants, purveyors, special guests and other corporate underwriters whomake it possible for us to bring you this event. As you know, all of the proceeds from the weekend support the Preservation Society's mission of protecting, preserving and presenting theAmerican Story represented by these historic properties.

We know that many of you have been with us year after year since our inception 9 years ago, andfor that we are extremely grateful. To those of you who are joining us for the first time, I’d like toextend a very special welcome, and we hope that you too will join us again and again.

Enjoy the weekend, and start making plans now to join us for our 10th anniversary in 2015!
