To Whom It May Concern: When a well-known and respected Washington journalist called me to give his highest praise of Jainie Winter, he said, “Jainie wants to learn as much as she can about public relations and communications.” Sure enough, Jainie came to EWG in the spring of 2014 with a huge appetite for learning and a great deal of curiosity, asking insightful questions about the communications field and requesting to take on additional assignments. In addition to her enthusiasm, she brought an exceptional level of professionalism and strong set of organizational skills to EWG’s strategic communications shop. Without hesitation, I give Jainie my highest recommendation for the Associates Program at Ogilvy & Mather. Jainie arrived at EWG as the organization was getting ready to release a major food database that aimed to drastically change the way people shopped for food. We were embarking on a highly visible and lengthy communications campaign that included publishing a series of analyses and blogs about chemicals in food, and hosting a number of high profile press conferences and calls. Jainie immediately adapted to the intensity of the fast-paced environment and played an important role in our media outreach, assisting in building and organizing media contact lists and tracking EWG’s news coverage. After the release of an EWG investigative analysis that found an industrial chemical known as azodicarbonamide, or ADA, in hundreds of breads and snacks, Jainie drafted a blog to highlight the marketplace’s reaction to our findings. The blog, titled, “Kudos to Companies Pledging to Remove ADA,” has more than two thousand social media shares and counting. Her internship culminated with a major press conference with consumer advocate Erin Brockovich that garnered national attention, thanks, in part, to Jainie’s assistance in targeting influential reporters and producers. It was truly an interesting time to be at EWG and Jainie showed a positive attitude and immense appreciation for the internship opportunity. Since leaving EWG, she kept in touch and reached out to me on a number of occasions for career advice, showing her deep understanding of the importance of maintaining a network of professional relationships. Jainie is an outstanding individual and would be a great addition to your Associates Program. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me with any questions. I can be reached directly at (202) 374-5762.
