Introduction to Management

Welcome to The Training Consortium’s Introduction to Management Toolkit

The Training Consortium (TTC) is a team of 4 people within the Public Sector Management Office, Department of Premier and Cabinet, Tasmania. We coordinate a wide range of learning and development programs for our member organisations.

What is the Introduction to Management Toolkit? The Introduction to Management toolkit brings together a series of learning and development events that we believe address many of the core knowledge and skills that will help those new to a management / supervisory role, those who have moved to a different management role and would like to refresh their knowledge and skills or those employees aspiring to a management / supervisory role. This toolkit has been designed in line with other TTC toolkits, identifying a range of events from our calendar that we believe provide employees with many of the fundamental skills required to help them operate effectively at key stages in their career. Is there flexibility? The Introduction to Management Toolkit provides flexibility to suit different level of skills, experience and workplace requirements. You do not need to complete all the events offered in the toolkit – simply identify those workshops that interest or will benefit you and register for those events. Participation will provide you with excellent networking opportunities and facilitates the sharing of information and experiences with others. The events are offered on a cyclical basis over a 12-month period so you do not need to complete all the events within the one year as they will be offered again in the following year.

Who is the toolkit for?The events in this toolkit will be of particular benefit to you if you are:

a new or recently appointed manager / supervisor looking to refresh or update your management / supervisory skills aspiring to a management or supervisory role wanting to establish a good skills base for future career progression.
