Question 1 In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products (magazines)? The conventions I used for this are the traditional fonts, I used a font called American typewriter to make it look as convincing as possible for my double page spread article. The magazine I used for conventions was Kerrang! as I was very familiar with it's layout and how it abides and also doesn't abide to magazine conventions, it was very helpful in the making of my double page spread with the gutters in between the text. I also took inspiration from the convention of a masthead and again in the vein or Kerrang! made it look violent and sound very punk rock. I used the pugs as all magazines do but I placed it at the bottom of the page, though it is usually in the top left or right I went with the idea of the magazine being a punk one, used the convention but turned the rule on it's head slightly. In my research stage I did an annotation of a Kerrang! double page spread and just labelled out to myself what I had noticed of the magazine.

Question 1 In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge

forms and conventions of real media products (magazines)?

Question 2 How does your media product represent particular social groups?

My magazine represents the rock/metal genre which in this time usually tends to be a more niche audience as a pose to something like hip hop. I used the mix of dark colours in order to make it look as if someone of that genre would be attracted to it, especially the black and the red. I made the name something that sounds quite rough and violent as sometimes those genres of music can have that element within it, not usually within the social group itself. Those who would read this would most likely be outcasted by the majority for their look and music taste. They see the type of music in the magazine as their therapy and help as the magazine connects with that type of audience and gives them what they specifically like. The stereotypical term of Emo would most likely be used for this magazine due to all of the dark colours and the bands but that the colour and the music created by the bands does not present them in a negative light and makes the emo label a typical view from those whom are not into the alternative/punk rock genre/scene.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

• I think the  Bauer Media Group would distribute my magazine because I took inspiration from Kerrang! magazine which is the biggest rock magazine in the world right now, I aimed for my magazine to be unique and different to it in a sense but in vein the influence from Kerrang! was heavy. The product itself would be sold in local news agents and supermarkets, these places attract a lot of people and a lot buy magazines along with their shopping, considering it is a weekly magazine new issues will be put up for sale weekly. There is the option of a subscription for the magazine at a reasonable price to the customer of the middle band of middle class workers who are likely to be able to afford it. There is always the online exclusive from the magazine which users on the site are able to access where some others wouldn't, so having that exclusive aspect is very good for a magazine. Back to the publisher, it would make sense for the Bauer Media Group to publish it as it already has Kerrang! and Q, the magazine can be well advertised by them and have a massive boost in sales as they are reputable publisher.
