Page 2: Evaluation-Question 5

Bold ,Bright mast head stands out to my audience I made sure to use red as it’s a unisex colour and connotes power and passion, its striking and therefor will be eye catching for my target audience

I have featured a female as the main image, looking directly out to the audience, a female model entices both females and males attention and the fact that she is looking out with bright green eyes is inviting to the audience, making them want to pick up the magazine.

The main story features the artists name ‘Aliyáh’ in bold black font. This will catch the readers attention and they will be interested in finding out about the world famous pop/RnB star so will want to buy the magazine

‘Rihanna has been written in bright red in order to stand out this will catch the readers attention as she is one of the artists my target audience is interested in, which I found out from my research. It offers a concert review for her concert which is inviting to the audience as they might not have been able to go due to the ticket prices, as my magazine is based for students therefore my magazine offers them the chance to experience what it would have been like

Also the flash ‘Plus Win Tickets’ has been written in yellow font in order to catch the readers eye, it shows them that they can gain something by buying the magazine and therefore leaves them more intrigued and more likely to but the magazine

I have used the cover line ‘Top 50 songs of 2013!’as this will be appealing to my target audience as they are interested in music and like to be involved in current music, therefore they will want to buy the magazine

My house style colours are strong and powerful the red and yellow reflect the RnB genre where as the yellow acts as a pop of colour and connotes fun and happiness which is linked to the genre of pop which allows the audience to know if the magazine is for them

The Top 50 in the charts attracts the reader as it keeps them updated on what’s happening in the charts which is what my target audience are interested in, this will show them that the magazine offers them immediate knowledge and convinces them that this is their type of magazineI have included Various images on my contents page so that my audience can relate to more of them, for example ii have a female pop group and a male artist, this broadens my target audience as there are all kinds of artists that different people may be interested in. I made sure it was very visual with not too much writing as this may bore my readers.

I made sure to include all types of articles from features to concerts, the concerts will appeal to my audience as they are students who perhaps don’t have a lot of money and therefore may not be able to afford going to concerts but buy reading the magazine they can see what they missed. In the features section I made sure to include various pop/RnB artists that I discovered my audience where into through research this adds variety and therefore more people will be interested in buying the magazine. It was also important to include ‘Just for you’ to make sure my audience felt included and that they are gaining some thing from the magazine, these can be posters or competitions or winning tickets to festivals and concerts

Page 4: Evaluation-Question 5

I used my past research from my focus group on what things they would like to know about their favorite artists and tried to incorporate them into my article. I used colloquial language as this is a convention in most magazine interviews and I asked a range of questions form the artists latest music and tour (to stick with the music genre of my magazine) to more personal questions which are more inviting for the reader as they feel they are getting to know the artist better.

I used the colour red for the questions in order to make them stand out against the rest of the text this makes the article more attractive and wont put off the readers as it doesn’t look as if there is loads of writing which might discourage the reader.

I incorporated a flash which is visually aiding to my target audience as it lets them know how they can buy the album which is being discussed in the interview

I used a young artist as she is more relatable to my target audience. As they read the article they are more likely to believe that this could be them due to the similar age range. The artist has achieved such amazing fame at a young age, which could be inspiring for my audience who may be studying and it may give them hope and support in what they are doing as they believe that they can too be successful
