Evaluation

Use – what I have copied

Develop – how I have changed it

Challenge – what I did completely different

Page 2: Evaluation question 1

MagazineUse

The masthead on my magazine is bold and in bright red just like the one on the empire magazine .

At the bottom left of my magazine I have written names of other films that are new releases and available in cinema. Same as on empire the bottom left of the magazine

I have gone for a close up image like in the empire magazine but only because close-ups is associated with horror for expressions

I have kept my cover lines at the left side of the page like that of the empire magazine.

I have added a slug/tagline underneath the masthead

Page 3: Evaluation question 1

DEVELOPI created my price and date inside the E of my masthead making it directly on the letter rather than in-between the M and on the M and on the background.

I have my barcode at the bottom right of my magazine but I have kept it straight rather than slanting it to the side like the empire magazine

I have used similar pattern of colour like film titles at the bottom o the empire magazine but I have gone for red white red while it used white yellow white.

The empire magazine uses the image of the hero but on my magazine I have gone for the image of the villain rather than the victim .

Instead of having a plane black background I have gone for a blue tinged background

I have added a promotional tagline under my mast head just like on the empire magazine but I have rephrased mine differently

Page 4: Evaluation question 1

ChallengeI have created a shape and put the special promotion offer of a free poster in it so as to make it stand out

I have used one of my cover lines to promote my trailer and I made it bold to stand out and draw focus unlike the e empire magazine

I have added the link of my magazine at the bottom under the barcode unlike the empire where it is underneath the masthead so its visible

I have not added another picture at the bottom of my magazine as I want to keep the main focus on the main image

Unlike the empire magazine I have not gone for a plain background rather I have done something more interesting as I have used one of my location setting as my background .

I have gone for something different creating a promotional line at the top saying its an extreme horrific magazine

Page 5: Evaluation question 1

Poster Use

I have the image of my main character on the cover of my poster just like it is on the other poster and n the image my actor looks scared just like the other actor on the other poster.

The background color on my poster blends in with the image on my actor just like the image on the other poster blends in.

At the bottom I have got the steel tongs fonts showing the names of actors producers etc just like the other poster.

I also have the production company logo and the distribution company logo at both ends of the Coming Soon just like it is in the other poster.

Page 6: Evaluation question 1

DevelopMy background colour is different to the other poster and instead of having the college building behind me so it looks like the other posters with the building behind I decided to go with the park scene and location because it looks more scary and similar to the magazine and trailer.

The font style I used for my magazine actually looks more horror than on the other poster and my fonts are done in red and much bigger than that of the other poster

In the other magazine there is a short brief of what the movie is about but in my poster there is nothing like that it just says all will be revealed.

Page 7: Evaluation question 1

ChallengeIn my poster I have got two images on the background rather than one like on the other poster and I have blacked out the image of the ghost that it almost looks like a shadow and sneaking up from behind.

Unlike the other poster I have actually written the name of the main actors at the top and above their images.

I have added a little tag line at the bottom that is also similar to one of the subtitles in my trailer and it make it more interesting as the audience would be curious at what is going to be revealed.

At the bottom of my background I have added a black gradient to make it almost blacked out down so the writing can be visible and give a feel of darkness and evil unlike the other poster where the flames represent being dragged to hell.

TrailerUse<> Develop <> Challenge.

I have used a similar shot style having a close up of my main character starring at witting just like the character in the other trailer

Closed for the season The Unforeseen

The writing on this was done on a plank wall but in my trailer I have gone for something slightly different by doing it on the mirror

For my background I have gone for something totally different by creating my setting in the bathroom rather than outside and its more like a calm white background rather than dark and flames.

Closed for the season The Unforeseen

I have also used a close up for this shot because I wanted to show the facial expression on my actors face just like the one in the other trailer.

My background colour is slightly brighter than that of the other trailer because its like late evening and not very dark yet and the sky is still visible.

The setting of my location is visible you can see the gate and the buildings around unlike in the other trailer where the background is very dark and plain and looks almost blacked out.

Page 10: Evaluation question 1

Use <> Develop<>Challenge

I have used a female as the victim in my trailer just like in the trailer I think this is because females are usually associated as weak and vulnerable.

My background is so dark its hard to determine the location or where the victim is being held unlike the other trailer you can see the background and walls.

In my trailer the girl is going along to the conventional horror theme being weak and helpless but in the other trailer the girl is actually trying to fight the conventional theme by trying to hide and fight .

Page 11: Evaluation question 1

Use<>Develop<>Challenge.

I have my actor looking at an image being still and focused just like the other character in the other trailer.

The Unforeseen Texas Chainsaw 3D

In my trailer my actor actually sees and is looking at an image that has appeared in the mirror while in the other trailer the character is looking at a portrait and slowly dissolves in like a blend with the portrait.

In my trailer I have used a mid shot to focus on my actor and get a sense of the location and what is going on in the background unlike the other trailer where it is a close up used for the actor and is showing her facial expressions rather than location/setting.

Page 12: Evaluation question 1

Use <>Develop<>Challenge.

Just like in the other trailer one of the female characters is trying to console and calm the other one down and is being perceived as the stronger character .

Unlike the other trailer where the framing is tight and closed up but in my trailer is a long shot and showed the background of my location .

In my trailer we have a male character in the setting and he seems more calm and in charge unlike the other trailer where there is no male help or handler in the setting.

In this shot I have one of my actors running in the woods just like in the other trailer where the other actor is also running in the woods.

In my trailer I have made sure that the lights in the park were on even if the place was still dark the light shows direction for the path unlike in the other trailer where it is actually dark with no lights but however we can still see the path.

Page 14: Evaluation question 1

Use<>Develop<>Challenge.

In my trailer I have the ghost behind my actor without her knowing that something is actually behind her and the only light showing is from the cell phone in her hand. While in the other trailer it is the light is glowing inside the ghost and it is a close up of the shot with her hand going through the ghost.

Close for the season The Unforeseen
