audience feedback?

Film Poster

I posted the draft of my film trailer on YouTube, which I also shared on different social networking sites, such as Twitter and Facebook. This enabled me to receive a variety of feedback from numerous people who came under my target demographic.

I have learned the most from my audience feedback in relation to my film trailer. All of the constructive feedback I received I took on board and applied it to strengthen my film trailer. For example, some of the shots went a little too fast and therefore I lengthened the shots so that they had a greater impact because the audience can take in what they see for longer. Additionally, I added in extra eerie music since I received some comments to say that this would improve the tension and atmosphere of the trailer.

I also posted my final film trailer on YouTube and linked this onto other websites. The comments were extremely positive and therefore my previous audience feedback helped me to make my trailer more effective and appealing to viewers.

Film Poster

Similarly to the film trailer, I posted my film poster draft on various social networking sites and my WordPress blog. My draft was very brief and didn‟t present my intentions for the poster clearly, however, my draft did display the colour schemes and layout I was planning to use. My audience feedback liked my colour scheme of red, black and a sandy colour, as well as my “Insomniac” title.

This audience feedback on my draft encouraged me to keep to my intended colour schemes and page layout. Therefore, when I was in the process of producing my real film poster, I could confidently create my film poster.

Once I had created my film poster, I received very positive feedback to see that I have met the conventions of a poster well, as well as the horror film genre. Therefore I knew that my poster was a good product and would reflect what my target audience would want to see.

Film Magazine

Feedback from my target audience was just as crucial for my film magazine, because the positive and negative comments enabled me to make any needed corrections, as well as this I was able to test whether my creative ideas would work well with what my target audience would like.

For instance, on my film magazine I placed additional pictures inside a „film reel‟. The feedback I received suggested that this was very much liked and added some originality and creativity to the magazine. Therefore, I knew to include this in my final magazine.

Additionally, the comments I received were mainly positive which made me satisfied with my final film magazine, in comparison to my previous drafts.

Overall

•How to improve my product.

•Codes and conventions which work well in a product.

•Suitable colour schemes.

•Suitable layouts.

•Existing products which have received a good response from

audiences (e.g. The Woman in Black trailer).

•What doesn’t work well for a product (e.g. long film trailers).
