How did you attract/address your audience?

During the research and planning of our film we produced questionnaires and conducted interviews with people of our films audience to see what they like to see in a typical crime and action film and what crime and action films they like to watch. We did this so that we knew what to include in the film and also grab ideas from other films to get people to want to see it and make it more successful.

These are the questions that we asked in our interviews:

• What crime films do you like the most?• Do you enjoy crime films? And why?• What do you like to see in a crime film?• What draws you in as you start watching these films?• What are you bored of seeing in a crime and action film?

These are the questions we asked in our target audience profile/questionnaire (snip interview video)

These questions helped in how we are going to attract our audience because we got other people’s point of views about crime and action films and not just our own and what we like to see. It’s important that we include things in our film that would appeal to a larger variety of people rather than just us. After asking these questions and getting answers from our target audience we then had a good idea on what we would need to include such as creating suspense, to keep in touch with society and to not involve too much action.

We took some of these answers and put them in our film opening. We created suspension and created enigma to keep the audience interested. We also didn’t involve any fighting or combat scenes in the opening but instead involved crime more than action through drug use/dealing and doing this also helped it in staying in touch with reality as drug use does happen a lot in run down areas and there is not as much or as violent fighting in real life as what you do see in action films.

Our film genre is usually only enjoyed by a few, certain people and is not a mainstream film so we would not advertise using adverts on the TV or in cinemas but instead on social networking sites and adverts on the internet. This is because it costs too much to advertise on the places mainstream films do as we only have a small budget and our film is not mainstream so wont make as much gross profit as these do.
