European Professional Women’s Network presents the new Board of Directors in Madrid

Ana Garcia Fau will take over the presidency from Marijo Bos supported by 13 professionals who will make up the new Board of Directors for Madrid.

Madrid , May 19th 2011 - The European Professional Women’s Network has today anounced the Board of Directors that will manage the association through this new phase. Ana Garcia Fau will take over from Marijo Bos, President of the EPWN in Madrid since 2008 and current leader of the European Federation.

EuropeanPWN is an international federation that promotes the professional developement of women on each step of their career and leaps their participation on Boards. This is possible through tools such as mentoring and talent developement programs; events, the exchange of knowledge and best practices among companies and professionals, corporate alliances, supporting entrepeneurship and encouraging networking. Ana García Fau (Madrid, 1968) is currently Vice President and CEO of Yell Advertising and responsible for operations for the Yell group in Spain, Argentina, Chile and Peru. “The relevance of EuropeanPWN relies on its relevant international stablishment with more than 3.500 members in 20 European cities and with 380 members in Spain that belong to 20 different sectors. One quarter of these are Presidents, Partners or Executive Directors of companies and another 20% are entrepereur women” appoints Ana García Fau. Meeting with members: Inform and shareThe following Monday 16th of May at 19:00hrs, the association gathered all members to officially present the new additions to the Board of Directors and to offer a briefing of the Global Summit for Women, an excellent international event whose 5th edition had just been held in Istanbul and at which a significant number of EPWN members were present. Other interesting events focused on innovation, the evolution of the mentoring program this year and various other themes will take place before the summer.

Ana García Fau. President EPWN MadridAna García Fau is Vice-chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Yell Publicidad –the Spanish and Latin American unit of the Yell Group–, where she is responsible for its operations in Spain, Argentina, Chile and Peru.Ana joined the Telefónica Group back in 1997 as Director of Planning of its Yellow Pages company (TPI). In 1999, after the IPO of the company, she was appointed Managing Director of Corporate Development, leading the company’s entry into Latin America (Brazil, Chile, Peru and Argentina). She was also member of the board of the acquired companies.Ana was appointed Chief Financial Officer in 2005 and, soon after the acquisition of TPI by the Yell Group, she became Vice-chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Yell Publicidad.Before, Ana García Fau worked at Mckinsey&Company in Spain, where she took part in several strategic consultancy projects for different sectors, in Goldman Sachs International’s Investment Banking Division (London) and for the Corporate Identity firm Wolff Olins.Ana García Fau is a graduate in Law and Business Administration from ICADE (E-3) and has an MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Boston-USA. Ana has recently been awarded the Icade Association 2009 Brilliant Career Award. She is also member of the Board of Trustees of the Pilates Foundation in Spain.

Maite Díaz. General SecretaryMaite Diez is a partner at Baker & McKenzie law firm. She is a corporate lawyer, specialized in telecommunications law. She has been involved in a range of corporate and M&A transactions, with a special focus in the communications and IT sectors. Maite joined the Madrid office of Baker & McKenzie in 1988. In 1993 she transferred for one year to New York. In 2000, she became a member of the Management Committee of her Firm in Spain. She served as Managing Partner from 2001 to 2008. She currently heads the Corporate / M&A Practice. Maite Diez has a Degree in Law and a Diploma in Economics at Deusto University (1986, Bilbao, Spain) and an LL.M. in International Business Legal Studies at Faculty of Law of the University of Exeter (1987, Exeter, United Kingdom). She is a member of the Madrid Bar Association since 1988.

Araceli García. Vicepresident & Institutional RelationsQualified in Law and Economics from ICADE, Araceli has also studied General Management in IESE (Universidad de Navarra). She has been involved in human resources throughout her professional career, starting off in a small consultancy firm, then with Coopers&Lybrand and PricewaterhouseCoopers. During the 8 and a half years that she worked in consulting, Araceli had the opportunity to work on projects in all areas of human resources (including development, recruitment, labour relations and others) for companies from more than 30 different sectors. During the past 8 years she has been Human Resources Director with two companies: firstly with AON Gil y Carvajal and, more recently, with Barclays Bank. In both she has had the opportunity to design and implement the HR function and has had the financial and human resources required to meet all of her objectives.

Paloma Pérez Bravo. VP Corporate PartnersPaloma Pérez Bravo is VP of Bestdoctors Europe where she’s responsible for its operations in Europe, Asia and Australia. Prior to this, she has carried out several responsibility positions such as Managing Director of Resources with Grupo Pelayo, Consulting Director for Spain and Portugal at Veritas Software, including other companies along her professional career such as Andersen Consulting, Deloitte&Touche and Sun Microsystems. Paloma is a Telecom Engineer, MBA by IDE, PDG by IESE and PLD by Hardvard.

Miren Polo de Lara. VP MembershipMiren is an Industrial Engineer and executive MBA by the Instituto de Empresa, and has post degree studies at City of London Business School and MIT – Sloan CISR. She has over twenty years experience in the development and management of teams responsible for diverse projects on Organizational Change and Information Technology and Communications.She has worked for service firms as Price Waterhouse-Coopers and Reuters Consulting, where she became Principal Consultant for the logistics and telco sectors e-business area. She has also corporate experience, both at Lucent Technologies and   at the global mining services company MAXAM, where she was CIO, same position she holds now at Grupo INDAS.She has had a significant involvement in the establishment of local programs for the development of the Information Society in Spain and has been involved at Red.es with government initiatives to promote the digitalization of remote rural areas, schools and programs for women development.

Paula Kant. TreasurerPaula has 19 years of Marketing and General Management experience, mainly in the industrial and energy sectors. Having worked and lived in different countries – (Netherlands, Libya, Spain, Indonesia and Taiwan) and continents, she is familiar with managing multinational and multidisciplinary teams and has managed teams varying from 35 to 50 people. Paula finds building and managing teams and motivating people a very rewarding part of her work. Paula currently works as a Consultant for “Links for Energy” in Madrid, a company that provides business development services in the energy sector in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. The projects that she handles are generally in the areas of Marketing & Sales Strategy and HR.

Marta Gil-Casares. VP EntrepreneurshipLicenciada en Derecho por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. MBA por el Instituto de Empresa. Programa de Dirección General (PDG) por el IESE. Trabajó en KPMG como Gerente de Consultoría, Departamento de Recursos Humanos sus 6 primeros años de experiencia profesional. Desde 1994 lidera su compañía  GIL CASARES EXECUTIVE SEARCH SL, empresa de servicios de consultoría de Recursos Humanos. Es Coach Ejecutivo: Presta el Servicio de “Professional Advise & Coaching” que la Agrupación de Antiguos Alumnos del IESE pone a disposición de sus miembros; Coach de los Segmentos Directivas, Reincorporación e Impulso Profesional del Programa Lidera de la  CCAA de Madrid. Coach de Programas Abiertos y a Medida para Empresas del Instituto de Desarrollo de Directivos de la Universidad Francisco de Vitoria. Profesora invitada de IE y Profesora en materia de Competencias de la Escuela Universitaria de Arquitectura Técnica, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. Miembro de Top Ten Consejeras y la European Professional Women´s Network.

Araceli Cabezón. VP Women on BoardsAraceli Cabezón is a current partner of Vesper, a consultancy firm devoted to organizational change and team coaching, after 20 years working for BBVA where is she held managerial positions in Corporate Culture and Knowledge Management. She is a guest speaker in several Business Schools, and collaborates in a regular basis with Deusto Comercial University coaching program. Araceli has been one of the leaders of EPWN mentoring program since its birth, as well as a mentor in the first edition, and now is participating in the Paneuropean Mentoring program committee. She has a degree in Sociology from Universidad Complutense de Madrid, and a Master in Knowledge Management from Escuela Superior de Dirección del Conocimiento e Innovación. Araceli is also an Executive Coach from the International Coach Federation.

Rosa de la Calzada. VP Mentoring&Professional Development Rosa’s qualifications include a Degree in Psychology from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, a Masters in Human Resources Management from the Instituto de Directivos de Empresa and Executive Coach from the International Coach Federation. She is also certified in MTBI, Benchmarks- Feedback 360º and MPG and is an expert in recruiting and selection and transactional analysis. Rosa’s professional career has been developed over more than 20 years in several multinationals, such as British Petroleum, Nutreco and Monsanto, where she was HR Director for Southern Europe and Responsible for European Leadership Development Programmes. She has extensive experience in HR processes and systems management. Since 2007 Rosa has been working as an Executive Coach and HR Consultant, specialized in individual development and organizational change. She also acts as trainer/facilitator for leadership programmes and people management courses and deals with executive search processes and HR consulting projects.

Rose-Marie Losier. VP EPWN Federation LiaisonBachelor of Arts, First Class Honors in Spanish Studies and French and English Literature by the University of New Brunswick (Canada). Master’s degree in Hispanic Studies from the Universidad Complutense of Madrid (UCM). Has worked over 35 years in various leadership roles in the field of communication in Canada and in Spain, in companies and institutions such as Exminesa, Montreal Trust, Alcan Aluminium, Andersen Consulting, Chambre Franco-Espagnole de Commerce et d’Industrie. She was Executive Director of the Spanish Association of Communicators for 9 years. At the same time, she has held various positions on the Board of several European and international professional organizations and has been a guest lecturer in various masters of communication as well as an associate professor of IE. Currently Vice President Director General of the Canada-Spain Chamber of Commerce, of which she is a founding member.

María Jesús Alonso. VP International CooperationMaria-Jesús Alonso is an experienced senior executive with over 20 years experience in multinational companies in Southern Europe and LatinAmerica. An in-house lawyer, specialized in Regulated industries (telecoms, food & packaging and pharmaceuticals), she is used to team working even with virtual/remote teams, and to managing multicultural environments and sensibilities, without losing either focus or buy-in from the stakeholders. Her core approach is to maintain balance between the broad vision and the detail required for execution. Maria-Jesús has held a number of director and board level roles in multinational corporations including Cable & Wireless, France Telecom, Tetra Laval and SmithKline (now GSK). She has also held several roles within industry associations and has worked with the relevant authorities and regulators in different countries and supranational organizations for a sustainable way forward (i.e. Safer Internet program, markets liberalization, sustainable competition, etc). Maria-Jesus is currently BoD member and General Counsel for an Investment & Asset Management Firm and is also the Country Representative for the Association of Corporate Councel Europe in Spain. She speaks 5 languages, is married and has 2 teenage sons.

 

Analena Coronado. VP EventsAnalena graduated from St. Louis University, Missouri, with two majors, in Finance and International Marketing, and has a PMD from ESADE Business School. After completing her studies in the US, she returned to Spain and began her career in the Marketing Department at Telefónica Sistemas. She then moved to Ford España, the company in which she has spent most of her career in departments such as After-Sales, Sales, Marketing and Human Resources, in which she occupied various managerial positions such as Marketing Manager for After-Sales, Director of Customer Strategy and Commercial Training, and Director of Development, Training and Human Resources. She is currently responsible for the Department of Dealer Network Development. She is a native of Madrid and is married with two children.

Mildred Laya Azuaje. VP Marketing&Communication Degree in Social Communications with mention in Journalism by Universidad Católica Andrés Bello (UCAB) Caracas. Master in Social Psychology from Universidad Simón Bolívar (Caracas), Social Marketing SP (Düsseldorf University, Germany) and MBA from ESCP‐EAP (Madrid).Worked as a journalist in the news media and her professional career includes Marketing and Communications responsibilities at Mc Donald’s, Citizen, Consulting 101, CANTV (Telefónica of Venezuela) and Telefónica International (Latam region). She has been Director of Corporate Communications for Oracle Spain and Portugal during 10 years. Currently Mildred is the Innovation Content Director for BBVA. Guest teacher of ICADE and the Universidad Europea de Madrid; associated teacher to the IE Business School. Member of the Board of Directors of DIRCOM Spain and European Professional Women’s Network.

Marta Pérez-Dorao. VP Management and Crossing SupportMarta is a senior executive with more than 15 years of demonstrated expertise as General Counsel, member of the Management Committee, Secretary and Member of the Board of Directors in different companies. She is used to working in the international, multicultural arena and loves the challenges inherent to business development in such environments. Marta is used to leading complex, global projects as well as all kind of deals and agreements related to both business and corporate issues. She manages and coordinates in-house and external counsels and M&A projects. She is a corporate, M&A and IT lawyer, with a degree in computer law and a PDG at the IESE business school. She is fluent in Spanish, English and French, and proficient in Italian. Currently she manages her own legal consulting company, Layomba Legal&Accounting, specialised in advising foreign companies that want to do business in Spain.
