HOW WILL YOUR PROGRESS BE MEASURED?

Your progress on the course is measured in a variety of ways including: PowerPoint presentation, video clip, small-scale research project, an essay.

WHY SHOULD YOU STUDY THE ELMIC DIPLOMA?

ELMIC gives you the opportunity to have a higher education experience at a world-class university, and develop yourself as a global citizen. Students who successfully complete the course will receive a University of Warwick diploma and credits to take back to their home university.

Our Personal Tutor scheme means that you will have a dedicated tutor to support your studies and welfare. You will also have the opportunity to participate in our social activities and cultural trips to famous attractions.

The course will carry 48 credits, based on the University of Warwick’s Credit and Module Framework (12 credits per module).

WHO CAN TAKE THE COURSE AND WHAT IS THE LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT? The course is ideal for undergraduate students; however, anyone can apply. Applicants are expected to have an IELTS score of 5.5 or equivalent.

WHAT WILL YOU STUDY?

ELMIC is a 4-module programme which offers engaging up-to-date content:

1. English and Second Language Acquisition: Learn about the linguistic, psychological and cultural processes involved in learning English as a second language.

2. English Language, Society and Context: Understand the role and functions of English language in society and the ways in which spoken and written texts are interpreted in different contexts.

3. English and Intercultural Communication: Develop your intercultural awareness and competence, and develop strategies for effective communication across cultures.

4. Introduction to British Culture through the Media: Examine aspects of British culture and key issues covered in the media.

Each module involves lectures that are supported by English language skills development sessions linked to the content. Our experienced tutors tailor the language input to both the module content and your language level.
