Accessing the Calendar

The course calendar can be found at http://www.humanities.manchester.ac.uk/humnet/acaserv/pgresearch/researcherdevelopment/PGRdev/calendar/

Save it to your ‘Favourites’! (hold down Ctrl and press D to add it as a bookmark)

Select a month via the top links to see courses running in that period

Click on a course title to see more details or to book on a course

How to book on a course

• Click on the name of the course you would like to attend (this will take you straight into eProg – you will be prompted for your University username and password on first login)

• In the content tab, under ‘Events’ are a list of available dates. Click ‘Apply’ then select the date of the training you wish to attend

• If places are available, you will receive an onscreen confirmation reserving your place on the course

• All the training you have attended will be recorded in eProg

What is Resources forPostgraduate Researchers?

It is a one-stop-shop for all materials relevant to PhDs and Postgraduate Researchers (PGRs) in the Faculty of Humanities. The aim of the site is to give you your own dedicated area which amongst other things will contain:

• training materials which are designed to build up the skills that you will need to maximise the potential of your time at the university

• links to university information relevant to research students

• useful links to external sites

How can I access the resources?

The resources can be accessed through the Researcher Development website:http://www.humanities.manchester.ac.uk/researcherdevelopment/

There is a link to the resources on the front page under the ‘Postgraduate Researcher Development’ heading on the right hand side of the page.

What is the Skills Audit?

A set of questions which ask you about your skills and expertise in six areas

A way for you to discover where your current skill strengths lie and find out the areas you need to develop

Click on ‘Summary of your skills’ to review your answers• In which areas do your strengths lie? • Which areas do you need to develop?

Review your answers then look for suitable courses on the training calendar that might help with your development
