OUR UNDERSTANDING OF SUSTAINABILITY FOR A BETTER LIFE
Sustainability, which can also be defined as the balanced and long-term continuation of economic, social and environmental dimensions in our life and which exists within the traditions of our Group, constitutes the basis of our business processes.
Contributing to a better life by activities and products that take the human being as the focal point and reducing our environmental pressure while doing so, forms the basis of our sustainability approach.
All our operations are in line with our sustainability strategy that takes into consideration the expectations of all our stakeholders, particularly of our consumers, suppliers, customers and employees.
We are spreading our sustainability approach to the entire ecosystem and to the value chain through our responsible investment decisions, environmental conscience and productivity-based production models.
As Yaşar Group, we are proud of being among the first groups to sign the United Nations Global Compact in 2007.
We have been reporting our activities that we carry out in light of sustainability, since 2009 in line with our principle of transparency and according to generally accepted international criteria.
Codes forto creating a sustainable system, springing to the life by entrepreneurial spirit, is hidden behind the birth and development of Pınar brand.
The milk that Dairy Industry Institution of the time was unable to receive from farmers due to the capacity limitations and that were poured into streams for that reason, led to the emergence of an idea in 1973 for a plant to produce long life dairy products and to the foundation of Pınar Milk.
We established Pınar Water in 1984, with the idea of bringing together pure natural spring water at the desired place and time together with our consumers.
With dairy farming becoming widespread in Turkey following the establishment of Pınar Milk, for the purpose of making use of calves that were left over in the hands of producersin line with their demands, Pınar Meat was establishedin 1985.
OUR ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY
We are aware of our responsibility for futuregenerations; we use our resources efficiently and strive to make use of all saving opportunities.
As Pınar Milk, we ranked first among the companies that willingly responded to the Carbon Disclosure Project - CDP Climate Change Program.
Pınar Milk succeeded in being one of the companies to rank in 6th place within the transparency category with a rating score of 95B based on the CDP rating methodology.
Energy Saving
We obtained a 6,5% reduction per unit ton in natural gas consumption throughout the entire Pınar Meat factory.
Combat Against Climate Change
Our target to reduce our carbon footprint until 2020 is 15%. We have realized 11% as of 2014.
We improved the line efficiency of Pınar Water Aydın-Bozdoğan Madran Plant by 6,2%.
We achieved an 8% reduction in energy consumption at the Pınar Water Isparta-Eğirdir Akçaağaç Plant.

During the last reporting period we reduced our water consumption per unit ton of production throughout the entire Pınar Meat factory by 10,3% compared to the previous year.

We completed the trainings for the calculations of water footprint of our companies. We prepared our Water Efficiency and Risk Assessment Reports.

OUR SOCIAL PROJECTS
With our Pınar brand, we maintainare continuing our corporate social responsibility projects in the areas of art, sports and education.
In the area of sports;

We have reached more than 3 million children all over Turkey since 1987 through the Pınar Children’s Theater.
Each year, around 1.000 children benefit from doing sports at the Çiğli Selçuk Yaşar Facilities under the sponsorship of Pınar.
In the area of education;
Through the “Future of Our Milk is in Conscious Hands” Project carried out by Pınar Institute, we have provided education to over 5.000 producers of raw milk.
49.255 paintings participated in the painting contest that we organized in 2015 with the theme of “My Family and Me” encourages us to continue our supports we provide for fine arts.
In 2015 we received the SilverStevie Award in the category of “Social Responsibility Program of the Year in Europe” with the Pınar Children’s Theater and the Bronze Stevie Award in the category of “Communications Campaign ofthe Year - Media Relations” with the Pınar Children’s Painting
Contest.
Through the Pınar Children’s Painting Contest, we strive to increase children's interest in painting and fine arts since 1981.
With the “Future of Our Milk is in Conscious Hands” Project, we were deemed worthy of winning the bronze award at the Stevie Awards in 2015 in the category of “Corporate Social Responsibility Program of the Year in Europe”.
With the “Let’s Move by Having Fun, Let’s Have Healthy Diets” Project, we aim to make children at young ages gain a conscience for a healthy diet and an active lifestyle.
With the support we gave as Pınar Milk for the “Little Things Renew the Nature” Project, we gave environmental training to around 6.000 children in 13 schools in Izmir until June 2015.
OUR CONSUMERS AND CUSTOMERS COME FIRST
We consider consumer health and safety to be our priority within the scope of our responsibility for products and services.
We meet the ever-changing demands of our consumers and customers through a proactive approach.
Pınar Communication Center’s (PCC) incoming call answering rate is 91% and we answer 88% of the calls within the first 15 seconds.
HUMAN RESOURCES/ OUR EMPLOYEES
Our human resources built up in line with our philosophy of “Right Person for the Right Job” is our most important strength for new investments and projects.
Increasing women participation in business life is among the irrevocable principles of our human
resources policy.
We are among the signatories of the CEO Statement of Support for the Women’s Empowerment Principles launched by the United Nations and are also part of the Equality at Work Platform.
Trainings provided per person; Pınar Milk: 14,Pınar Water: 11,6, Pınar Meat: 11 hours. The trainings we provide to our employees are a strong indicator of the importance we give for their professional and personal development.
