Marianna Kerppola MBA/MS 2016

The Erb Institute has helped me transition from a corporate career towards a career in innovation and entrepreneurship. Classes such as “Strategies for Sustainable Development” and

“Systems Thinking” provided a robust toolkit for analyzing situations and developing solutions for complex problems. In 2014, I launched BetterHope, an online marketplace for clothing made with dignity, and today, I’m exploring solutions for innovation in academic drug discovery. Erb internship funding and the Erb peer coaching program have also been instrumental in my continued development as a leader and change agent.

John Dooley MBA/MS 2016

My internship with Stem allowed me to contribute towards the commercialization of innovative battery storage solutions helping businesses better manage energy costs and drive electrical grid efficiencies. My knowledge of sustainability concepts and enhanced adoption of renewables was key to my ability to make immediate contributions. While my internship increased my understanding of behind-the-meter technologies, classes such as “Renewable Energy on the Grid” and “Energy Project Finance” provided the tools to deliver impactful recommendations on forming strategic partnerships for the smart grid.
