About our Erasmus+ project

Happy Hours, Happy Future, Happy Europe is a partnership between IPSEOA (Istituto Professionale Servizi per l’enogastronomia e l’ospitalità alberghiera), located in Erice-Trapani, Italy and Kogeka 4 – Sint-Jozefinstituut, situated in Geel – Belgium. Both partners have a lot of experience in the gastronomic field and the hotel or tourism branch and want to engage in a collaboration.

Twenty participants were chosen for each of the 8-days visits. The first visit takes place in the autumn of 2016, the second one in the spring of 2017. In the autumn of 2017 a third visit takes place and the last visit is scheduled in the spring of 2018.

The main goal of the project is to prevent early school leaving. The partnership offers a new and challenging environment in which students experience success as they demonstrate their skills and knowledge and learn from their peers. This should improve the participants’ understanding of themselves and their professional basis.

All the activities (before, during and after the visits) are in line with the Flemish and the Italian curricula, as well for the general as for the specific goals of each of the subjects involved in the project.

The participants will get a better knowledge of the local culinary traditions and techniques (such as Belgian chocolate or Italian pastry making). Through their new experiences in a new learning environment they will increase their knowledge and understanding of similarities and differences between Italian and Belgian tourist industries.

The participants will have better language skills as English will be the only common language.

In addition to the four meetings, the project includes a series of intense exchanges between schools, funded in part by families, aimed at the joint work of the students, the achievement of a masterclass competition and sharing of experiences between the teachers.

Happy Hours, happy Future, happy Europe

This is the email the Italian coordinators of the project wrote to the Belgian coordinator at the end of the project:

Dear Rosemarijn, all the transnational meetings were carried out. Rosalinda and I think we can express our satisfaction with the results obtained. We are very proud to tell you that we received very positive feedbacks from the outgoing and incoming students, from all the teachers and from every one who participated in this program. So, we would like to begin by expressing our sincere thanks to you personally, Rosemarije, for the trust you have placed in us from the beginning, for your cooperation and your competence. We would like to express our sincere thanks for all the support received from the friends and colleagues from Kogeka School: Antonella, Ann, Peterpaul, Stijn, and Liesbet, Bart, Eddy, Jan. All this work was possible thanks to a wonderful team. Therefore, thanks to the host families, to the students and to every one of you for the support during these two years. Without your efforts we would have had no such a great exchange program. So thank you all for working together, in giving our students such an amazing opportunity to come to Geel, to visit and work in your school, to spend such wonderful times bringing back pleasant memories from their Erasmus+ exchange with you all. We feel very honored to have worked with your school!!! These positive results have to motivate us to strengthen our Erasmus+ partnership creating other opportunities for our students, faculty and staff to grow and develop in an international environment, even with another project together.

Love Rita and Rosa Linda
