COURAGE objectives

Our ultimate goal is to improve lifechances across the whole Euro-pean area of the project’s ultimatebeneficiaries – young people “atrisk” from:social disengagement; educa-tional exclusion and under-attain-ment; becoming long-term NEETs(Not in Education, Training or Em-ployment); experiencing lastingdisadvantage in labour markets;being unable to exercise their fullrights as EU citizens. The immedi-ate target groups for our findings and products are youth and community workers, schoolleaders and teachers, trainers, and coaches, working with young people in varying de-grees of co-operation with related agencies and with varying and often inadequate re-sources for training and support. Our ultimate beneficiaries are the many hundreds andthousands of young people whose life-chances will benefit during and after the life-time ofthe project from our target groups’ enhanced knowledge and competence.

Training course objectives

l To inform about the findings and experiences from the COURAGEproject

l To exchange experience in how to prevent Early School Leavingand encourage to after-compulsory-education

l To explore, develop and evaluate the “best practice” from a num-ber of European teachers, trainers, principals and policy makers

l Encourage and motivate the course participants to include theEuropean and international dimension in their future projects andaction plans for their local activities

l Demonstrating and sharing the best practice between COURAGEpartners and the course participants.

Course activities

Conference venue

The second COURAGE training course will take place at the Treacys West CountyConference & Leisure Centre. It is just a 10-minute walk from Ennis town centre, TreacysWest County Hotel and Leisure Centre offers modern rooms with free WiFi, a 22-metrepool and a gym. Ennis is a convenient location in relation to Shannon airport (25 min)and Dublin airport (2.5 hours) with good train and bus transfers from Dublin to Ennis.
