Dear ERA Members,

I wish to welcome you all to the association’s sixth annual convention, taking place alongside the International Rental Exhibition in Amsterdam. As the title of our convention tells us, times are improving for rental in Europe with our industry expected to start experiencing growth again in most countries. Presentations throughout the convention will be looking at how companies are facing recovery and roundtables will discuss how rental companies can seize opportunities in various aspects of their operations.

Last year, part of our convention focused on the potential for the development of the rental industry in Central and Eastern Europe. The industry is increasingly organizing itself in those markets, notably through the creation of national rental associations in Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria and Russia. The past year has also allowed us not only to look inwardly at Europe, but also to form important ties with other rental industry associations around the world, many of whom are represented at this year’s convention.

The ERA has also been active in representing member’s interests throughout the year. Our committees have been re-organised from our experience over the years to better tackle the concerns of the rental industry in the current climate. These reformed committees have not taken it easy however, continuing the high delivery rate we have come to expect over the last 5 years. A catalogue of the achievements and deliverables from this activity can be found at the back of this brochure. Reports from these committees will also form an important part of our convention.

I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible during our time in Amsterdam and wish you all a very interesting time.

Yours sincerely,

Michel PetitjeanSecretary General
