Remote access - Remote Access Next Generation 22.1 Overview of the functions

The following functions are available when a connection is established to the control.

These functions enable diagnostics to be performed and faults to be corrected via thecontrol. It is usually up to the service technician to execute the function. The technician canaddress all of the problems via remote access on a PC with a mouse and keyboard.

FunctionsFunction DescriptionDesktop sharing Permits the display and remote operation of a control. For safety reasons,

however, it is not possible to initiate machine movements or to start NCprograms.

File transfer Permits the transfer of single or multiple files or directories. Transfer can be fromthe service PC to the control or vice versa. This allows, for example, patches tobe imported for the error correction. The control can also be updated quickly.Even complex NC programs can be transferred to the service employee foroffline testing or to the service technician for modification via file transfer.

    2.2 Establishing the remote accessRequirement

The necessary client software has already been installed on the PCU or the PC.See Installing/uninstalling the client software(Page 33)

The connection to the machine has been established.

Connection to the machineIf a connection already exists to the machine, then the system automatically identifies whichremote access has been installed.

No connection to the machineIf there is no connection to the machine, then the user must decide which remote accessshould be used.
