The scale market is the huge market and india is the leader in

manufacturing of the scales the scales are of various types like

electronic non electric semi electronic scales.

The scales are primary used to measure the weight of the object or

balance the weight of two objects this states that scales are of two

types one that displays’ weight and other that balances two objects to

make sure both are of same weight.

Generally the scales that determine weight are used in both

industries & retailers to measure the weight in tonnes,Kgs,gms .these

can have capacity from grams to tone’s and are made as per the

environment and work they need to do.

Scales which run without the power and need just weight and

It takes years to the business to gain the supremacy and

monopoly but makwava scales do not agree to this they started

business in 1980 and acquired the supremacy.

Quality and Toughness of the scales has always been the

identity of the makvana scales and this lead them to gain the

advantages in the market full of the aggressive competitors who are

ready to sale off the stock at cost price just to break the customers,

though the quality is more preferred than the cheap costs and vanmali

das’s commitment has never been compromised in the ages.

It was the quality that made the makwana scales market

leader in 2 years and now presently they are exporting to the countries

like Dubai Tazakistan, Nepal & Sri lanka.

Business being of B2B model is focused towards

satisfaction of the end user and same reflects in its commitment.

13

The past life of vanmani das was very average middle

class family every member of house use to collectively work for the

livelihood and use to make the handmade tools for farming then

seeing the huge scope of the scales and own personal interest in same

vanmali das chose to make a business out of the scope.

Their family combinedly satated working and making

scales for that they took loan of 500rs in 1980 and made it the best

scale manufacturing unit in the short time of six months.

Within 8 months of establishment he hired 4 employees to

work for the scales and then gave the family members the permanent

retirement since then no family member accept two sons have never

participated in work of scales.

Vanmanidas started the business in 18/jan/1980 and got

first big order of 50 scales on 14th July 1980 this was first bulk order

form a government institute and seeing the quality and perfection in

the creation, such orders became a regular scene.

History

Page 14: Entreprenure case report

14

Vanmali das wasted no time in thinking and immediately

sold off the land which his family used to own from long time to meet

such orders finished and got the best benefit of it as the returns were

earned as payments of his projects were given on the delivery time.\

This made the operating cycle very fast and he was able to

fulfill every consignment at the time.

Since then the business has moved to B2B model as

vanmali das liked the idea of making and selling to one party and

gaining entire return on the whole investment rather than selling it to

different people and waiting for conversion of entire investment into

liquid cash.

Presently there are 8 parties who make the offers of 500 to

100 units per month and sell to local market while 3 parties who make

the regular order of 1000 scales per month to export the same.

Since last 4 years 2010-14 manufacturing of 12000 units

of scales are done every month there are more buyers but makvana

trio is satisfied with these digits as they need 5 plants for finishing

these number of units and they believe in handling an supervising

business by their own to maintain quality of the scales which is the

prime identity of the firm.

Page 15: Entreprenure case report

15

Vanmali das was always focused on being a boss then a

employee from the young age of 15 years he used to work as a sales

man for scales an knew the ins and out of the business and was well

aware of the tricks and tactics exercised in this kind of these market

and also some fat experience of the market of the scales and its scope.

At the age of 25 he wanted to walk on his feet to run a

mile so he decided to go for making of the scales and earn the

livelihood and live on his own terms and area of command.

10 years of the experience as a sales person backed up to

his desire and the makwana scales was formed in 1980 and never

looked back

Idea behind business

Low capital: o At the initial stage low capital caused lot of fear and

stress as vanmalidas was not able to pay the more money for the Raw materials which in return kept reducing speed of growth.

Lack of production knowledge : o Selling of the product was the mastered task but lack of

production knowledge caused accidents and wastages in huge amount.

Insufficient Technology:

o The machinery were not available at the required time nor affordable for the freshman

Unavaliblity of workforce: o Besides technology the worker for the opreating was

not affordable for the same

Unknown limits of production: o The idea of demand and number in which the

Suggestions

Rather then keeping watch on the 5

different units it is advisable to

develop and manufacture every type

of scales at one shed to improve the

supervision.

Turn business 100% export oriented

to gain various benifits in acquiring

raw materials which can result into

decrease in 20,00,000 rs annuly.
