The honor will be handed out May 9 during the opening cere- mony of the festival sidebar. For its 50th anniversary, the French Directors’ Guild SRF said it was “proud to celebrate an outstand- ing and inspiring filmmaker.” Last year, Werner Herzog won the award. Jia Zhangke, Jane Campion, Jim Jarmusch, Clint Eastwood and Alain Resnais are among the other directors hon- ored since the prize was created in 2002. ‘Jurassic World 3’ COLIN TREVORROW is return- ing to direct “Jurassic World 3.” He is currently working with “Pacific Rim: Uprising” script- writer Emily Carmichael on the script for the feature, which was announced last month by Uni- versal and given a June 11, 2021 release date. Trevorrow and Carmichael will exec produce, along with franchise patriarch Steven Spielberg. Trevorrow was first tapped by Spielberg to direct the first installment in the rebooted franchise that hit theaters in 2015, going on to gross US$1.6 billion at the global box office. The sequel “Fallen Kingdom” will hit theaters June 22. Trev- orrow, along with Spielberg, is exec producing the feature from director J.A. Bayona. Lohan loses appeal ACTRESS Lindsay Lohan has failed in her latest attempt to sue the maker of the video game “Grand Theft Auto V,” which has sold more than 275 million copies so far. Six judges at New York state’s Court of Appeals unanimously rejected her privacy case after dismissing a claim that one of the title’s characters was based on her. Instead, the judges said, the in-game “actress-slash- singer” merely resembled a generic young woman. The case dates back to 2014 when Lohan first sued Rockstar Games. She claimed at the time that the character of Lacey Jones not only looked like her, but also had a similar-sounding voice and wore clothes that resembled her own clothing line. ‘True Detective’ SOME changes have come to the long-delayed third season of HBO’s “True Detective.” Director and executive pro- ducer Jeremy Saulnier, set to split directing duties for the entire run with show creator Nic Pizzolatto, has left after complet- ing the first two episodes. Prolific TV helmer Daniel Sackheim, known for FX’s “The Ameri- cans,” is filling the void. Though the show’s episode count is still unknown, Sackheim is expected to divide up all the episodes with Pizzolatto, who is stepping into the director’s chair for the first time this season.
