WE AS ONEAmidst the turmofl brought about by the redonation of the A beneo pruperty to the San PabIo Diocese, a wonderful bond was obviously developed among the people involved in the Ateneo retention T i bond hs was indeed noticeable not onty among a few but also among m y from all walks of life. A Ade from the Ateneo community-teachers, students, parents, - many other concerned citizens and civic leaders me working hard for at least a phming-out process for the school instead of the more abrupt turnover in March 19 78. Because of this bond one who is not familiar with the close inf imacy of the Ateneo community would be surprised upon entering the gates of the school, for immediaM y , he sees the bond of brotherhood, he sees intimate outer and inner Iurtdscapes o f a full m d remarkable community. It is a relafionship that is heart-warning and exuberant. The crisis has obviously strengthened rhe bond of unity. For indeed, A teneares f o m a community with a spirit of unity and brotherhood. Such a relation bred by past objectives, and strengthened by the present crisis, is bound to be even stronger in the future. The facu 1ty , administmtion, parents and friends of the A teneo were sincere and hard-working enough in developing the Ateneo community the way if is now. Together with their seniors the A teneo stzrdents have worked toge ther with common aims and objectives for thirty solid y ears. IH the face of such closeness if is indeed u~lforlunatc the Ateneo thaf m g t nor stay here for long- One wonders where fhis spirit of unity and ih brotherhood goes after the A teneo i gone. Will the end of the A feneo put s an end to this spirit of unify and brotherhood? A thou~andand one bombs did not devastcsfe fh e spirit of the Vietnamese people because .they fough E in fheir home land, because they were not uproo fed. If the A deneo shall be allowed to stay, if it shall not be uprooted, then it shall continue to work for others, for justice, in the spirit of unity m d brotherhood. Parrish James M. Evasco, 4-B

BROTHERLY CONCERN FOR OTHERSThe Christmas Package Drive of the A teneo has been going on since the e M y part of-theschool year. Students have been generously coptnibuting to their respective classes for the drive. This project has been going on because of two reasons: a few students really want to help the poor people, and, others desire thaf fheir class would win fn the grand assessing, that I , to win holidays and prizes. Althqugh the purpose i at times s s superficial, it is obvious fhut A t e n e m are working togethef for a cause, an apparent sign that the Ateneans have unity. They know haw to be one; they know how to fight for a cause, how to focus- their resources on a single obsession. To improve on this unify, however, we need another spirit which will help us to be the men the Ateneo waPlb us to be- the spirit of brotherhood or the feeling of brotherly concern for others. For instance, we can work harder in the Christmas Packaae D i e if we come to d i z e rv that we are helping our poor brothers to be happy during the Chrlshttas season. We m teach more inspin'n~lyin the A CIL because we are helping our innocent, little brothers and sisters to know about God. We cm work and strive more for the real success of dl our undertakings if we h m this noble motive. Otto von Bismarck believed that unify i quite necessary to make s G e m y a world power So, tm, we can say that unity is necessary in all our actions. Unity and brorherhood should always be toge rher so that we can achieve what we really want to ach feve for the growth of ourselves and for a better A teneo. . a Mario Deriquito, QB

OUR COVERUnity is a vital element of the Ateneo way of Me. It is that oneness in idea, in principle and in human value. It brings with it the concept of brotherhood which is an essential element of ehristianity;an essential element of being "men for others" and a vital aspect of love. Both of them are part of the chistian principles that make up the kteneo community.

JOIN THE FACULTYFor the past thirty years, Ateneo has been am outstanding school in the city. AcademicalIy speaking, Ateneo may rule out other schools. Simply because Ateneo has been accredited by PUSCU, thanks to the students and especially to the teachers. It's true that there are only few schools and universities who are members of PAASCU, and we are lucky, Ateneo is one of them. But let's take some questions why Ateneo is famous. Well, we wn say that it has acquired good teachers. T i year, hs two new teachers were accepted. One of them is Mr. Salvador Jalmasco, the tall mustached guy from Nagcarlan, who has taught in the Feati University with the Columbian fathers. Then he transferred to the RVM mothers in Nagcarlan. i the Laguna College and now a member n of the Ateneo family. When asked about hs feehg upon teaching in the Ateneo, i he said "It's a pleasure for me to teach here." When asked about difficulties encountered "I encountered difficulty in adjusting to students and activities goingon. I think it takes time to adjust and that's what I'm doing now."

Another new member of the faculty is Miss Edna Requistes, a former teacher at the Laguna College. She is now teaching in the grade school. When asked about her feeling in teaching boys. "It's harder to teach boys because of discipline," When questioned on difficulties she enmuatered now i teaching she n said, "Wala naman."
