How to Improve Your Reading Skills

Many people have problems with reading. Reading is difficult for some people

and it can take a lot of time. Reading is a process of the brain where you look at

symbols on a certain page, and your mind perceive the patterns of characters

and understands their meanings . If you develop good reading skills, it'll be very

helpful to you in the future. Aren't your school teachers always saying 'Read

more books!'? Here are some steps and tips that can help you :

Find something to read. for Example children's book, newspaper article, short

stories, or something here in the bog! .

Sound out each letter as best you can and you will notice they form

some sort of word. Some letters go with each other. For example, "th" is not

pronounced as t + h, but rather as one unit. This is called a 'phoneme'.

Find a place to read and where you can concentrate. This may a secret

place where no one can bother you, or simply your home at a time when it is

quiet.

Begin your reading by looking at some images or pictures, or listening to

Read as much as you can. When you start getting bored or need to rest, take

a break. Reading should take part at the fun and enjoyable circumstances ,

don't force it. After your break, get back to where you were and continue.

Go to the library and pick up many books. Pick books depending on

your reading level and preferences, no matter how old are you !

Read the page carefully. Don't rush, take your full time. Most of people think

that skimming the page(skimming means to just scan the page and hardly take

in a couple of words)is a way of fast reading, but this is not true.

Reread! If you don't understand a word of what you are reading, read over the

sentence, Try reading the words out loud . If you still don't get something, ask

a good reader to explain the sentence to you, or simply pick up a book that is

easier to read and appropriate to your reading skills. don't forget to use your

finger as a pointer. It will keep your eyes on the line you're reading .

Keep reading! Try to read as much as possible on

your free time, Reading will help you a lot ; your vocabulary will become larger

and more sophisticated and you will notice your grades are changing for the

better in school. and Have fun reading!

there is another way which is reading and listening at thesame time . in other words take a novel " hearth ofdarkness" as an example and start reading it with youreyes but your ears listening to audio reading books, youwill find them in many webs especially youtube. goodluck
