What is causative?(arti dari CUSATIVE?)

The Causative verbs are used to indicate that one person causes a

second person to do something for the first person. One can cause

somebody to do something for him or her by paying, asking or forcing

the person. (kata kerja Causative adalah menandakan seseorang

menyuruh orang lain untuk melakukan sesuatu baginya baik secara

meminta atau memaksa).

Konsepnya adalah : kata kerja yang digunakan untuk menyuruh

seseorang melakukan sesuatu untuk kita. Jenis kata kerja yang dipakai :

Have, Get, Make, Let.

HAVE / GET : The Clause following have/get may be active or passive.

Active = Meminta seseorang untuk melakukan sesuatu untuk kita dan setelah have atau

get diikuti dengan orang.

Subject + Have (any tense) + complement (person) + Verb in simple form

Example: Dede had John wash the car (John washed the car)

The teacher had students leave the class (Students leave the class)

Subject + Get (any tense) + complement (person) + Verb in to infinitive

Example : Dede got John to wash the car

The teacher got students to leave the class

Subject + ℎ𝑎𝑣𝑒

𝑔𝑒𝑡+ complement (thing) + past participle (V-III)

Example : Marry got the car washed

Dewi has his shirt cleaned at the drycleaners

Ricky was having his hairs cut when john called

The president is having a press conference arranged by his advisors

have thing past participle

Passive = Meminta seseorang untuk melakukan sesuatu untuk kita dan setelahhave atau get diikuti dengan benda (thing)

Make can be followed only by a clause in active voice. It is

stronger than have or get. It means force (memaksa).

Subject + Make (any tense) + complement + Verb in simple form

Example : The policeman made the suspect lie on the ground

The manager made the salesman attend the conference

The teacher had made the student sign the documents before the school

exam

The President is making his cabinet members work at night

The teacher always makes the children stay in their room

Let means allow or permit (memberikan ijin)

Subject + Let + Complement + Verb in simple form

Example : John let his son swim with her friends

We will let you use our car

We are going to let her write the letter

Subject + 𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑚𝑖𝑡

𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑜𝑤+ complement + Verb in infinitive

Example : John allowed his daughter to swim with her friends

John permitted his daughter to swim with her friends
