ENG 101MidtermePortfolioAt this midterm phase, you are asked to look back at all of the writings that you have done in the course sofarwhich is a LOT!

You have more than four writing prompts. You have at least five reading responses You have a Dialogue Essay/Focus Group Study You have your Beloved World Project

You have done a lot of writing, sharing, and critical thinking in this class and now you are ready to influence alarger world of ideas that goes beyond the walls of this classroom!

All ENG 101 students must create a portfolio of their writings and thinkings from the course. Our goal here isdo more than just fulfill a school/program assignment though; we want to use writing for what it is reallymeant to do: shape others and make its mark on the world. Whatever you do and create in your ePortfolio, letit come from you and let it move others!

You have a 50-point spread for this midterm. You can basically use this point-spread as a checklist for yourself(for a review of the semesters entire 200 points, please see the syllabus calendar). Please refer to the point-spread below FREQUENTLY so that you know exactly what is expected of you. The point-spread here is nottrying to simply capture the rules of a teacher; these points have been designed with the sole purpose ofensuring that your ePortfolio is professional, intellectually creative, inspiring, in-depth and cohesive. Youshould walk away from this class with a digital footprint you can be proud of.

General IssuesThis part of the point-spread has to do with general issues related to writing for the web. Once you get

the feel of it, these issues will become more automatic.

    1) Alltitlesare spelled correctly and follow standard capitalization rules for titles(for top tabs and left tabs).2) You have a Headerthat spans the entire 779X200 pixels space with a Backgroundimage that communicates with the header in theme/message and/or design and isvisible.3) You have a unique ePortfolio title,an ePortfolio URLthat indicates your name, and a directory icon.4) You have accurate privacysettings (it should NOT be open yet) with permissionsto Carmen and ENG 101.5) You have a 3-color schemethat works with the header and background (nowhite webpages unless your header and background strategically and mostlyusewhite)6) You have paid careful attention to the home page/landing page: its messagematches the title/theme of the ePort; its graphic design works well with thebackground, header, and CSS; it gives credits for the images used in header, background, etc.7) You have An "About Me"page under the "About this Site" tab with photo ofyourself. It is at least 500 words long.8) Your About Me page is interesting and engaging, not just a collection ofuninvested wordings for an assignment you didnt really want to do.

    9) You created a CONTACTmodule and added a little prose to that page thatwelcomes readers to leave you a note (or you can just re-paste in your AboutMe). The Contact Page is the VERY last section on your top tab.10) You have an About My Design page that explains your design choices and iswritten in an interesting way. Your About My Design page also explains yourtitle, its significance, and how it unifies everything at your site (at least 350 words).11) Your About My Design page includes (at the bottom) a PDF or Gallery of

your ePortfolio Design Worksheet.12) The overall font is large enough to read and easy to see for viewers withmultiple visual needs and abilities.13) There are no weird formatting issues (big gaps, big spaces, etc). Paragraphs areNOT indented BUT are double-spaced. There are no blank pages anywhere on thiswebsite.14) There are no surface errors anywhere in the About Me & this Website tab(errors are not simply about getting the grammar right here you are trying toestablish credibility as a public writer).

Beloved World ProjectThis will be the only assignment that is really prescribed for your ePortfolio. The purpose is to define

your politics as a writer and thinker for your public audiences as well as showcase your multimediaabilities.

    15) You included a unique and creative title for this section/tab and did not leave itas Beloved World Project.16) Each of your vignettes has its own title (you used a banner or a chart-banner toname these titles).17) Each of your three vignettes has MINIMALLY 1 weblink from websources thatoffer intellectual discussion (Wikipedia, dictionaries, youtube videos, and anygeneric site CANNOT be weblinks--- these are too, too easy to find).18) Each of your three vignettes has MINIMALLY 2 images (these should beweblinked if they do not belong to you) that are right or left justified.

    19) You SHOW the events in your stories, not just tell or list the things thathappened that like a recipe or lab report (that genre is important, but not here).20) You have a unique title and opening sentence/paragraph for each vignette. Youcreatively ease us into your three stories rather than state facts up front.21) Your entire essay flows. There are no big jumps in the flow of the essay orpoints that are left disconnected.22) This ePage has an embedded video at the top (if the video does not play on allmachines then upload it to youtube and embed a youtube video).23) Your final video incorporates music, custom animations, and 3 images per slide,as demonstrated in class.24) This ePage has been edited and proofread closely. There are no glaring surfaceerrors that impede credibility.

    25) You have included all of the drafts and DESIGN WORKSHEETS of this projectas a tile-gallery of images or an interactive PDF (you can use your phone to takephotos of your draftsdo this all the time now).*

Favorite PiecesThis section of the ePort will contain a) one long reading response AND/OR your focus group study; b)

one writing prompt. These pieces will fill out your website and make it ready for public viewing eventhough you have only been in the course for a month and !.
