Group Character Map1. With your group, pick out the five central characters

in KR 1-3.2. Map them out in a way that makes sense. (Social

hierarchy? Father-son? Equals? . . . Anything that makes sense to you).

3. For each character, draw a symbol that represents this character and write his name inside. Be creative, but pick a symbol that fits what you know about this character.

4. For each character, include a quote that reveals something significant about this character. Write this quote inside the symbol or along the borders—you could even make it a part of the drawing!

5. Draw lines between the characters, and explain on the lines the nature of the relationships between these characters (go beyond the obvious, why are the characters important to one another?)

The Kite Runner…Too Late to Apologize – Page 1

• This book is full of images and symbols of and for characters:

• Kite Runner…Amir, Hassan, others running from issues

• Broken relationships• What does the kite symbolize

• Either way…the relationship is currently broken• Is there a symbol of the kites cutting each other

down?• Especially cutting down one another to win?• Does that relate to the characters in the novel

very well?• Does winning always involve sacrifice?
