Participation at the Company’s 19th annual Risk Managers InformationMeeting—held Feb. 27 to March 1 at Westin Innisbrook Resort, near TarponSprings, FL—crossed the 300-mark for the first time, with 303 people partic-ipating in the meeting.

At the 1999 RMIM, 299 people participated. That was the all-time high until thisyear’s meeting.

The two primary business sessions, the first on Mon., Feb. 28, followed by the otheron Tue., March 1, included a variety of reports and presentations.

A production company from Orlando, called PGI, literally turned the meeting roomaround this year and established a high-energy environment for both days with music andvisuals that featured attendees and speakers from all 19 RMIMs.

Monday’s SessionThe opening “walk-in” production recognized Karl Ogren as the only Risk ManagerRepresentative who has attended all 19 Risk Manager Information Meetings. Karl isretiring this year from UIL Holdings.

EIM Chairman Bruce Worthington then welcomed the group and introduced fourother EIM Board members who were in attendance as well as members of the Company’sInsurance Advisory Committee, both present and past.

Three management reports began the presentations: David Hadler, EIM president, reported on 2004 operating results; Jill Dominguez, vice president-underwriting,focused on Membership and product issues; and Sam Garvin, vice president and CFO,reviewed the 2004 financial results.

Colleagues from Willis, Todd Jones and Ann Longmore, covered jointly “ExecutiveRisk—Proliferating Liability for Directors and Officers.”

The morning ended with Kevin Mitnick, a largely self-taught expert in exposing thevulnerabilities of complex operating systems and telecommunications devices, speakingon “Social Engineering.” Copies of Kevin’s book, The Art of Deception, were given tothose in attendance.

Tuesday’s SessionNeil A. Doherty, the Frederick H. Ecker Professor of Insurance and Risk Management atthe Wharton School, began the second morning’s business session. His subject was “TheEvolving Functions of Risk Management.”

“The Future of the Energy Industry” was Arthur J. O’Donnell’s subject. Arthur is theeditorial director for Energy Central, an internet-based provider of news and informationabout the energy industry and senior editor of EnergyBiz, a bi-monthly that is publishedby Energy Central. Copies of the January/February issue were made available.

Steve Rizzo, a headlining comedian for over 18 years, addressed “Humor in the WorkPlace.”

The second day closed with a Members Only session that was led by IAC ChairmanBill Powell. A Q&A format was used, with management and IAC members respondingto a variety of questions and comments.

Attendees arrive, via shuttle buses, for the continental breakfast and opening day’s business meetings.

This year’s meeting, on both days, began with a highly entertaining visual presentation of photos from the previous 18 Risk Manager Information Meetings.

The video production on Monday ended with the introduction of EIM Chairman Bruce Worthington who welcomed everyone to the meeting.

EIM President David Hadler kicked off the three management presentations on Monday morning.

Although you cannot please everyone all of the time, I have to believe we came about asclose as possible—and I’m speaking of the 19th annual Risk Managers InformationMeeting. My hat is off to the staff.

My first EIM Risk Managers Information Meeting was in 1992. Looking back, I now appreci-ate even more how far the Company has come in organizing and presenting a truly professionalmeeting. And it’s far more than the high-tech touches that the experts from PGI brought to the 2005meeting.

I found the management presentations remarkably forthright. David, Jill, and Sam thoroughlybriefed us regarding where EIM is today on products, underwriting, claims, future distributions, reinsurance, and financials. More importantly, they provided insight into the organization’s future.I think we can honestly say that EIM management is transparent in its operations.

The subjects of the guest speakers were varied and very informative. I think this year’s mix wasthe best yet. I’m sure several of the speakers were favorites of someone’s. Each speaker was out-standing.

While there’s plenty of time for networking with our peers, one of the reasons why we all cometogether each year, I also like “rubbing shoulders” with EIM management, Board members, andunderwriters. It helps put a face on the Company, and it reinforces our strong working relationships.

I trust that you found the Members Only session helpful as well as interesting. As I said duringthat session, we are free to use that time, with management’s blessings, in whatever way we, theRisk Managers, think best. We could continue with our Q&A format, or arrange for topical pre-sentations, or have a panel discussion, or whatever else you might like. Do let me have yourthoughts. My e-mail address is [email protected].

On page one of this issue of Members Report, there’s a story about next year’s meeting being ata new venue: Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate. I encourage you to go to its website:www.omniorlandoresort.com. You’ll discover an amazing place where there is championship golfand so much more. Save the dates: February 26-28, 2006, to help celebrate EIM’s 20th anniversaryyear.

I’m betting on another winner. Be there.
